I was just wondering how much you guys in other provinces are paying to attend your IPSC Provincial Championships. Ours out in BC is running $165, but $250 if you miss the early bird registration cutoff.

Seems a bit high to me unless there's a decent prize table or some kind of cash back system.

When is the early bird cut off? Work restricts access to certain sites, some how i can get on here... but not on IPSCBC

AB was $125 and $175 late. I can't comment on the prize table.

Funny Vygur I can access this website and the IPSC AB from work but not the IPSC BC website.

I can say this. For the money. This years match in NB is going to be well worth it. I would not miss it for any match this year. Omen and IPSC1 have been to this matches at Dalhousie. They have been working on this match to make it one to remember. Large fishing Boats are supposed to stay in the water.........not this year:evil:

Put it this way. If the provincials are anything similiar to the Shock and Awe FUN match at Dalhousie (which, IMHO, is on par with the AWARE match last weekend) it is going to be fun and challenging.

Ya same! I can do IPSC AB, actually all the IPSC Provincial sites except BC - Maybe our works use the same blocking tool... or maybe we work for the same company lol

:eek:For $165 I'd expect one hell of a match, with cash payback and a nice prize table. $250 for late sign up:onCrack:, screw that
Area 8 is $100 11 stages 240+ rounds, Late sign up only adds $25. Cash and plaques for divison and class winners, I received a little less then double my match fee for winning my class there a few years back. Plus a double blind draw for the prizes.

Ontario was $90 and $100 late, included free lunch, free water, free beer at AGM and teardown and awards, IPSC ontario plaques and medals and IPSC medals.

RO's were rewarded as follows
help 1 day - Receive 3 RO Points, GRGC Gerber Knife, Lunch, Refreshments
help for 2 days - Receive Points, GRGC Gerber Knife, Lunches, Refreshments+ 1/2 match fee
help for 3 days - Receive Points, GRGC Knife, Lunches, Refreshments + full match fee + Match Shirt.

I think we should have charged $150.00

Not to hijack... as I am not a member of IPSC, I am however, curious as to what your $165.00 gets you?

I do understand if that includes your meals for match days, free available water at all stages, and free shuttle back and forth to wherever you are staying and ofcourse trophies, medals plaques etc

Would that be correct or am I missing something? Just wondering why so much money?

(and yes I know you "have to pay if you wanna play")

Props cost a small fortune......But that said the club gets to use them afterwards.

The matches are also used by many clubs to gain much needed revenue.

In the Drama Daze case the money goes to the high school.

Storm, I do understand that props can cost the host club a bunch of dollars.
A big plus for some of match revenues going to charitable causes! I think that this is a big plus in our (sport shooters) public image and relations.

Well that about sums it up then Blues........

To host a decent sized IPSC match takes more work than you can imagine. While it is nice to think that we do it just for the sport..........that is not the case. Personally I do it to further the sport, Further EESA and to put handgun shooters in a positive light.

If there was not monetary gain for any of the above I doubt that I would put in the hundreds of hours work, nor the time off work to do it.

Hope this answers your question.

It is really hard to try and compare Provincials because each club is different and each match director has different ideas. As storm mention props can cost a whole bunch. If it is a well established club and they have a good supply of props on hand that do not require a lot of repair and painting then there is a big saving. The next big cost is range rental. I doubt if any two ranges have the same policy in place. I know I am paying the range a very good price for having the range tied up for 18 days for the nationals next year. If a prize table is added then that just adds to the costs. The other problem that I think Prince George has (and someone can correct me if I am wrong) is location. I know when I attended the qualifier there this spring I thought the numbers were down from others that I have attended there. There is a big difference between excepting 100 people and excepting 150 people. Of course the last problem is if you charge to much then people might not attend due to the cost.

BC has added a prize table to a number of their Provincials. Last year, we had a match fee of $150, but a third of the match fee went towards the prize table, in addition to what was contributed as product by sponsors. Still, I thought that $150 was pushing the limits of what I wanted to pay for a match fee. I kind of think the late fee is a bit high as well, but I plan on sending in my match fee before the early bird cutoff, so it's not really an issue.

Hello
I believe this thread was started in regards to the cost of the upcoming IPSC BC provincial match.

I was down at POCO for 2 weeks and just returned from the nationals. And as I stayed at the range there was no internet available.

I will address some of the above questions. Yes there will be a prize table, approximately 20 % of the entry fee will be allotted towards prizes. The more entries, the more % will go to the prize table, less entries less %. We have a base cost for the match to cover (tents, tables, toilets, printing, etc) We also do not have a club house big enough or a banquet facility of our own, so those are also the same cost ,no matter how many shooters we get. In fact if the per cost per plate is below a certain $ we pay extra for the room. Also after the nationals the sponsors are tapped out.
(I digress) The prize table will include some firearms both purchased and donated, but do we spend the prize budget on a few expensive prizes or more less expensive? That is yet to be determined.

The late fee is there as an incentive and a penalty. For anyone who has had to do squadding and a work schedule a" lot" of late entries can more than double that work. Add to that, table settings for banquet , bbq , trophies.etc A lot of these things can not be done last minute or are impossible. In my time as a match director we have only charged a late fee to one guy who showed up at the morning of the shoot. An email or a phone call a couple of days in advance is usually all it takes to eliminate the late fee.

Although I do not recall where we came up with the $85.00

the BC provincials in
2004- $100.00
2005- $125.00 no #####ing
2006- $150.00 no #####ing
