Why aren't swift bullets more common up here?

This is the only Scirocco I’ve ever recovered. It’s a 180 gr shot from a 300RUM. The deer was shot at 300 yards. My butcher pulled the bullet out of his grinder, it weighs 155 grains but it probably shed a little weight in the meat grinder.

I shot a 4x4 Muley buck 3 years ago with my 6mmBR, using the 90 grain Scirocco II.
The range was a lasered 345 yards. That bullet passed through his chest and exited
out the far side, leaving a looney size exit. He was DRT, and his lungs looked pretty
well messed up. I wish I had recovered that bullet. MV was 2920 fps. Dave.

Most places I’ve seen the sciroccos are no more money then the Accubond. That’s the reason why I started shooting them in the first place. When I first bought I believe I paid 70cents a bullet compared to close to a buck for the accubond.

expensive, Noslers ABs and Barnes LRX work just fine and 60% less cost

Basically no more expensive than Accubonds. Barnes are great "most of the time", but occasionally fail to open.
Here is a picture of a 180 Scirocco II taken from a moose 3 years ago. The loaded round and the new bullet are
shown as well. This bullet weighs 151.6 grains or 84% of its original weight. That was fired from a 308 Norma Magnum
at a muzzle velocity of just over 3100 fps. Moose was 85 yards.

100 grain 25 calibre Scirocco with impact velocity ~3200 fps. Recovered bullet after hard quartering shot through mule deer was still 90+ grains.

Lump on deer shoulder is bullet just under the hide. Entrance was on the last rib on the off side.

I just checked on x-reload.com and they show only 50 per box

A-Frames are 50; Sciroccos are 100. Either way, and with a bit of rounding you're looking at a buck a bullet for Sciroccos and most of the other "premiums" in regular sizes. On the big stuff start looking for 2 bucks a bullet for A-Frames and Partitions. There's some exceptions, 500 grain Partitions in .458 will run you 5-6 bucks apiece. That's insane; last time i checked I could get .458 Win factory ammo loaded with Partitions for about that price. On the other hand; they do kill things.

My mistake.. thank you

I've posted this before, but here's some 450 grain .458 and .270 grain .375 A-frames I pulled out on a little Asiatic cull awhile back. Its sort of a waste of time digging; if you've seen one 100% weight retention 2X expanded A-Frame you've seen them all.;)

Lots Of BC s published are Inaccurate ! :p as i said JMO BUT the ACCUBONDS have always being MORE accurate in any cartridge i have ever shot them in and compared them too ! I do think the S 11's would be a GOOD killer although i have never shot any animals with one . ;) I have NEVER seen any of your shooting info with you useing them - So Whats your OPINION ? ;) RJ

i use both a/bonds and scirrocos. i think the scirrccos to be a tougher bullet but in the end i can't tell the difference on game. some rifles shoot the a/b better and some i find prefer the swifts. its one of those there both great bullets and not a lot of defference in the field.

My only game experience with Sciroccos are with 180gr @ 3380fps in my 300RUM.

Shot a Blacktail buck at 40 yards as he was trotting uphill towards me bullet entered just right center of chest hit the backbone between the shoulder blades

There was no exit hole bullet disintegrated inside the animal

I now shoot 200gr Accubonds and A-Frames @ 3200fps

My favorite 45-70 jacketed bullet for my Marlin 1895GS are 350gr A-Frames
