So the pic is from a BNIB pistol never fired never went to the range. Would you mind such damage on a new pistol? Or would you send it back? Is it even something that can be repaired?

Part of me feel that caring for this is petty, but another part of me feel like, well it is brand new it should look brand new

Feel and thought?

Look at the quote in your sigline.

If you’re gonna shoot the gun, there’ll be worse dings than that. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

My sig is for milsurp, unless we rise to overthrow the turd i dont see this one having any kind of ding making it interesting lol

I’m on the fence too. On one hand I agree with Still Alive, but the OCD side of me has other ideas.
Put it this way....if you had two side by side in the store, one chipped and one not, which one would you choose?
My answer is the one without the chip.

If you plan on keeping it pristine, return it and get a new one. If you’re gonna shoot and holster it, then don’t worry about small dings.

And McHoss, I’m as OCD as they come and this ding won’t bother me at all. The hassle of returning it and dealing with transfers etc quickly outweighs the ding.

I know it should arrive in perfect condition but is it really worth your time and money to get a different one that may look better? Plus it’s restricted so they have to unregister this one and register the new one which only adds to the wait. If you’re going to shoot it then it’s going to get marks on it. Try thinking of it this way, this one is unique, no one else will get one marked exactly this way from the factory.

the good news is that is probably exactly where your thumb is going to index every time you press check so you will feel it EVERY..... TIME.....
hahahahahahahha

let your OCD nibble on that when you try to sleep tonight!

I’m starting to think that the majority of CGN’ers are at least a little OCD.
I hadn’t considered the hassle of transfers etc. That is a drag. Probably just as easy to shoot it and get a matching ding on the other side. My 1911 has a nice nick out of a serration and it shot like a champ today.

OCD people need balance. You’re right, a similar matching one on the other side should make the OP feel better!

Looks like a Shadow 2. A gun built for competition, not sitting on a velvet blanket inside a glass box. Just shoot the damn thing. :)

Small defect. Not worth the hassle of returning it to get a pristine looking one. Unless you plan on framing it and putting it up in the living room, don't worry and shoot the damn thing.

use a black sharpie, its a great gun, chicks dig scars

This is exactly what i was considering doing LOL

Its a Shadow 2 optic ready, even with the registering/unregistering id be looking for multiple months to get a replacement

Thats the good part at least, i can’t feel it. Had it been sharp with any chance of cutting myself when cocking fast Id have gotten rid of it already

I can see why you'd be annoyed by something like this on a brand new pistol. If it bothers you, send it back. Having said that, CZ's fit and finish is so-so at best. There's no guarantee that the replacement won't have a cosmetic flaw.

Ahhhh. You got the display gun. Send it back.

Seriously..... It's gonna get worse marks just taking it to the range. Don't sweat it.

By the time you factor in the shipping costs back to the place, the ATT's the time etc etc I would say who cares.
If you're a collector and keep your guns in a satin cloth in a vault then for sure.
If you're like me and you throw your Norinco 1911 across the wood bench at the gun range after you unload it, then who cares.

Just ask yourself what you plan to do with the gun. I'd have a #### load more scratches than that on it from holstering and running it hard after one day on the range lol
I also have a habit of smacking the spine of my pistol mags against the top of the slide to make sure the rounds are seated back sometimes when I'm shooting leisurely. Guns are tools brother and a tool with no scratches never had a day serving its purpose.
