...

I hope you where not injured. It is interesting since it occurred on a bullpup rifle and reminds me of a posting from awhile ago on CGN of a KB with a Tupe 97, however in that case it was caused by re-loading error with pistol powder mixup, however he was not injured either.

I do not reload for rifles so that is definitely not the case here. My face is sore as ####. My wife had to dig out a few bits of plastic from my face as well. Otherwise I am alright, proper PPE is to thank for that.

dude contact the company and erase the part where you blame the ammo, blame the gun and get IWI to replace it, if not tell them you will post it everywhere, this will scare people and they will lose sales... TRUST me this is a free replacement .

That is a very good point, since how can you be sure it was the ammo!

Looking at this I'm seriously wondering if I should get a bullpup in the future. Glad your ok and thanks for sharing. Hopefully you can get some type of warrenty support for your loss.

I am blaming the gun, looks like an out of battery issue to me. The back end of this rifle is a total write off. I will post some more pics later. Postimage is a bit of a pain in the ass.

Is it not designed to prevent the firing pin coming into contact with the primer when it's out of battery, like an AR?

Did you buy that in DC?

No, Red Deer Shooting Center. The guys there have contacted North Sylva for me.

I recall the TAR-21 rifles I owned in the past could go so far as marking the primer slightly. I am basing my guess mostly on the fact that it seems like the receiver was subjected to so much pressure. The bolt carrier is split the entire length and a couple lugs were sheared. The receiver itself is split badly as well. It is actually pretty incredible.

Jeez that sucks irritated eyes from burnt gun powder is one thing uncontained explosion beside your face is another. I wonder how long it’s going to take to get that image out of my head the moment before I squeeze the trigger on a bullpup. Good luck and I’m interested to hear how this plays out.

Would the lugs shear if not in battery? I'd think it more likely they would have to be in battery to provide a surface to shear against.

Maybe just a poor choice of words. In my guess of what happened the two lugs lost were blown off by the escaping gasses since they appear to have been the first thing in the path the deflagration took place along.
