I’m looking to replace the stock on my Stag 10 with a Magpul PRS, however I have zero experience with the PRS stocks and am hoping somebody can answer a couple of questions...

Is there a specific advantage to the gen 3 over the gen 2 (specifically on the AR 10 platform)?
Given that the PRS stocks use a rifle length buffer tube, will the JP SCS System work in them?
How do you like your Magpul PRS stock on your Stag 10 for those running them?

Thank you.

Ge the 308 version so you can raise the comb if you need to, the charging handle will hit if you don't. I love my PRS, it is heavy though, but balances the rifle nicely.

PRS-3 don't have an AR-10/15 distinction. The PRS-3 has a shorter cheek riser, and the charging handle has enough room for full range of movement. PRS-3 on my BCL-102 below:

A PRS Gen 3 can also fit either a A2 Rifle buffer tube or over a AR15 Carbine buffer tube. So it makes it easy to swap stocks to say something like a CTR for hunting, then 1 bolt and you can put on the PRS for using at the bench. I swapped my PRS gen 2 on my ATRS Modern Hunter to a PRS gen 3 using a AR15 6 position carbine buffer tube using a JP AR10 Gen 2 Silent Capture Spring System. I intend to do the same thing on my Stag 10.

Don’t do it!!!!! For the love of god these rifles are heavy enough why add another 1.8lbs of stock to it.

Lol they are nice but at weights pushing 9lbs unloaded and no optic I would be looking for a lighter option... unless you are just bench shooting then have at it.

While I appreciate your concern, I, apparently, am not as worried as you about the additional weight of my rifle. It is what it is, and the added two pounds does not concern me.

I am however interested in what stock options you may wish to present as an alternative?

Thank you, and all, for your post.

No worries, I only mention it because of the extreme weight of the rifles and almost all of the negative comments include weight.
The comment was made tougne in cheek, I’m looking to build a stag 10 under 7lbs and every ounce counts on that path.

The Luth-AR skelatial stocks are nice, decent quality, same adjustable features yet half the weight and price.

If you in the mood for something different with capability for a super short LOP/storage the Armspec XPDW they are built crazy good and are the only PDW stock that uses Milspec tubes and not proprietary ones.

Best of luck with the new rifle!!!

Thank you for those suggestions; I’ll certainly have a look.

Although the lighter weight builds are not a goal that interests me personally, I hope that yours comes in where you want it to. Please be sure to post some pics! Perhaps then when I get home from lugging mine around the woods all day I may change my tone, lol.

Best of luck with your build!

I have the Gen 2 for my sr25 I actually like it, it offsets the 20 inch barrel weight Wise but put a bipod on and your set but if you add the bigger butt pad on to it and you got the shorter arms like me going to bed time going difference between the Gen 2 and gen 3 is that the Gen 3 has a m Lok rail on the bottom where the Gentoo you slide a cover off and you have a 1913 rail

Go for the gen 3 for adaptability. I have a luth are and it is not in the same league for quality.
