870 or 590 shotty

I like trenchgun, and scattergun, that way, when a liberal asks why I call it a scattergun, I can tell the, " it has to do with the effects on the body parts"!

Fer gawds sakes don't call it a SHOTTY

My express experience has been the opposite, try as I might it won’t rust. I have a hunch the new generation of 870’s is finished better but that’s just a guess.

Good to know. My son and I both have 870's from a few years ago and they rust pretty fast whereas none of our other 100 or so guns have this problem. My Marlin 45/70 GBL I bought a few years ago also has the same problem. Hope they fixed this.

I have problems with the trigger reach on them Mushbergs. It's just too far off ergonomics wise. I've also had the rust experience with the 870 Express (mfg. 2015) and they don't fit me at all either.

Remington should develop some rusting plastic so the plastic trigger guard can blend in with the metal on the gun. Sticks out like a sore thumb...

Try the magpul stock, SGA, looks funny but is awesome and does seem to get you closer to the trigger! You can take discs out to adjust lop perfectly too!

I got a 40 year old 870 and it's in perfect condition with no rust at all. That said, I have taken very good care of it. I just bought an 870DM Magpul and I'm sure loving that...

Can you find a 590A1 for >$580?

You can find a 1970's 500 ATP for 300$ and its 100x better than any new Mossberg. Or find And Old Wingmasters and get the same results.

Its pretty sad that Old shootguns are better made and nicer,,, lol...

Haha, we need pics of his expression!! Trenchgun! That's a good one for sure, I will have to use it!

Well I’m happy to say the look on his face was pure excitement haha, he hosted Christmas dinner and after we were gorged on Turkey, stuffing and gravy he suggested we shoot the Ithaca off the front porch.

He wanted to see if I could repeatedly hit something while slam firing, I’m not one to say no to that as I’ve never shot anything that slam fires and he lives on acreage so it’s safe to blast away from the front deck. I managed to get a couple slugs in a row into a knee high pail at 10-15y, he thought it was pretty great. We’re going to get out soon and shoot an old pump action .22 I’ve cleaned up for another friend and I’m going to get him to blast off a few mags from my grizzly that’s all tac’d out, I have a feeling he’ll get a big grin out of it.
