The "new" model 19 has MIM parts, a tube barrel affixed to the frame with a cheesy barrel shroud, but nevertheless, its a "K" frame. S&W did bring it back so there must be demand, the same demand that Colt ignores.
The 69 is based on the "L" frame but only 5 shots as there is not enough cylinder material for 6. While they appear the same, they are not dimensionally the same, except both accept the same grip size.
According to info the shroud an rifled inner tube solve a problem found on the earlier K frame, it prevent most of the erosion of the forcing cone du to usage of full power 357 mag load, same with the 69 that also have the cylinder advance notch in between the chamber instead of on top, the new ball detent also make them a thighter revolver.
As for nim parts, those are here to stay and they are strong, some 1911 cie is using a plastic trigger and a plastic mainspring housing this is a lot more concerning, i would not get caught with a 1911 with plastic parts, this is a sin.
My 1911 are ALL STEEL PISTOLS.
Hey dont shoot the messenger, i read that on goggle but never the less the Classic feel built very solid but i agree, they dont have the nice finish of the vintage ones.
Cant wait to recieve my Classic Model 48 6 inch 22 mag.![]()
PS: it was told by some that they shoot 38 Spl in their 357, myself in my 357's, i will rarely shoot 38, i find it boring, for me it is the same as filling the tank of my QX 60 with regular gaz instead of the best high test super gaz.![]()

JP, the recommended fuel type for your QX60 with the 3.5 V6 is premium unleaded, while every .357 Mag revolver can digest .38 SPL without loosing accuracy or performance (shooting paper targets), in fact the .38 Wadcutter round will outshoot any .357 Mag specs ammo shot out of a revolver.
Wheel gun fan here. Have a couple of GPs and then I bought a TRR8, and I have to say the SW trigger is miles above the GP.
So Caramel, how about a detailed range report of your 19. I have been looking and might be getting one myself.
It (617) really is a great gun IMHONo Model 19 or 69, but recently got a K frame 617(no dash) and L frame 686-3(pre-lock), both are 6." Even though I have long fingers, and both have finger groove wood grips, I like the feel/fit of the 617 a little better.
I thought the 69 was a K frame as well.

I prefer the 'vintage' K frames.

So, what's the deal caramel? Which Korth do you have? The National Standard or the Classic Sport? I would love to see pictures and a range report.
I had my Manurhin MR-73 out for the first time in awhile this week. Shot about 50 .38 148gr SWC and 50 158gr .357. I really like this gun!
It would be interesting to be able to compare the two. The last I saw the Korth Classic was about twice the price of the MR-73 (7K+ vs $3500-ish for the Manurhin) when Wanstalls had the Korths in stock.
Is the extra $ worth it?
I’d like to hear too. I considered the Korth and the MR73 but from everything I have read the MR73 is more of a combat style gun and the Korth is more of a “trophy wife” style of gun. Now that’s only my impression and I could be wrong. I went with the MR73 and will treat it as a shooter. So far I couldn’t be more impressed. It is accurate and easy to shoot fast. I spent a bit of time sighting it in in single action but the majority of my shooting since has been in double action on the clock and I just feel like that’s what this gun was meant for and where it really shines.
That being said I would love to hear more about the Korth.
