ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

And NB is the opposite. For Varmints we can't go larger than .224 but for large game, any, that's correct ANY center fire caliber is permitted. #toodumb
.224 for yotes 10 months per year.
243 or bigger for large game.

And you must have a tag in order to carry any firearm in the bush, unless you get a 3 day sight-in permit.
And then you have to list the firearm you’ll be sighting in and where you’re going to sight it in

Sounds like onterrible laws

nope, that's out further east.

Even Onterrible hasn't stepped up their stupidity to that yet (essentially ATT to sight in for NR)
Yep, NL, I have to go to the wildlife office ,every week , to get a permit for sighting in my .308..

They gotta be wondering why I need 30 sight in permits, per year.. ha ha

Any updates on the upper?

We are working on them in between answering inquiries about how production is going, when will I get mine, will it be before C71 and so on.

Please understand I am not singling you out but this week alone there has been over 100 inquiries and it takes time to answer each one, which just puts us further behind.
Cheers

Sorry for bothering. I do understand. But just can’t hold myself lol

Is there any talk of out sourcing production, or moving to a forged version of the receiver set to decrease cost and increase production? I think it's safe to say that you'll be able to sell every set that you can produce for the foreseeable future.

There isn’t enough demand to warrant the costs associated with forging dies. Forged sets are cheaper down south as they can produce them by the hundreds of thousands and sell them all. We don’t have that market up here unfortunately. Outsourcing would lose quality control.

There is no talk at this point of outsourcing production and doing forged sets for the Canadian market would actually increase costs, since the per unit price would need to recoup the costs of set up. The unfortunate reality of making a rifle strictly for a Canadian market. Trust me, we want to make more of these units, and make them faster, so we're looking into all available options. The number of parts per cycle has already been increased in some operations, up to 8x more parts than we were doing for Varmints and Hunters.

I guess I under estimated the initial cost of setup. Makes sense. Thanks for the reply!

Do you have any idea how wreckless this would be as a business plan? The cost of the initial investment would be HUGE and with the unknown future of the market that could be ruined by the stroke of a bureaucrats pen. Not to meantion the stress involved.

Just sitting here laughing at the mere suggestion of forgings....lol
Costs aside: you realise there is no benefit to forged receivers other than weight.....right? Even weight-wise you're looking at only 1-2 ounces max per set. Theoretically they might be slightly stronger, but they wont wear any better. And if you have a catastrophic failure, it's still going to kaboom.

The only reason that companies forge ARs is due to quantity. There are untold millions made and sold. Small runs? They would never have made dies in the first place.
Also let's not forget that the only reason the modern sporter exists is because the AR15 is restricted. They would not sell worth a damn in the U.S
**EDIT** Not because they are inferior but because they cost more and do the same thing.
