ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

Just sitting here laughing at the mere suggestion of forgings....lol
Costs aside: you realise there is no benefit to forged receivers other than weight.....right? Even weight-wise you're looking at only 1-2 ounces max per set. Theoretically they might be slightly stronger, but they wont wear any better. And if you have a catastrophic failure, it's still going to kaboom.

The only reason that companies forge ARs is due to quantity. There are untold millions made and sold. Small runs? They would never have made dies in the first place.
Also let's not forget that the only reason the modern sporter exists is because the AR15 is restricted. They would not sell worth a damn in the U.S
**EDIT** Not because they are inferior but because they cost more and do the same thing.

You do realize they are stronger, lighter and cost less?

So how many more reasons do you require that some want forgings?

Uhuh. Is there any usable benefit to the (marginal) added strength? It's still a chunk of aluminum...if it blows up, "muh forging" isnt going to save it. Or you.

Beyond that? My points still stand.....sorry. You will never see a forged MS

It's a standard part. I have a strike industry polymer one on the prototype upper and have also used a milspec one.
I don't believe they are included, but I'm sure either ATRS or RDSC can supply them for you.

The strike industry ones are very nice because they can be installed at any time and they don't have a full length rod. They also won't damage the finish like a milspec one will over time

People want forged receivers for the same reason they want forward assists, logic has absolutely nothing to do with it. Whichever you prefer for whatever reason more power to you, i am 100% happy to have a billet set with slick side upper, because i value utility over aesthetics, but that's just me.

Spoken like someone that has no clue what people that want FA actually use it for... But hey thats just me !

Funny the dust cover is the ONLY part I dont have for my build....good to know these work. Being able to install easy later is a big pro.

Spoken like someone who has fired over half a million rounds through ARs and has never needed the forward assist, so i didnt order one...if you cant press check without causing a stoppage you should learn how to do it properly. I fully support the forward assist for aesthetic purposes or if someone just likes having it but if you tell me it is required you're just objectively wrong.

Forward assist has it's place, and while it may not be "necessary" , it is a nice feature. Bolt hold open on last round also isn't necessary, but it helps..

I personally ordered one of each. The FA upper will be used for hunting, just so that I can more easily creep a round quietly into the chamber.. this is the advantage

I want one because it looks like call of duty.

Oh well if we can count our rounds fired in COD I’m at 5 mil or so, no stoppages, jams, or failures of any kind. Actually, no cleaning or maintenance either lol. Perfect firearms in perfect conditions apparently.

But seriously, who cares who wants an FA or not. I don’t need it but I’m not going to hate on those that do. More choices is always better with NR AR’s.
