Hi there,

Just got a new exps-2, the outer ring is fuzzy and looks pixelated, the dot is better but a little on the star side. I looked through a Aimpoint and the dot was nice and clear. I dot have astigmatism but it’s minor and corrected in my glassse. Taking pictures of it makes seem a little better. , it looks best with a my Elcan os4x behind it. I know its a holographic sight, wondering how crisp of reticle is it suppose to be?

Thx

This is normal. It becomes less apparent as you use it. The center dots only look like stars if your brightness is turned way up. I also own this unit but a 2014 production model.

The Eotechs are infamous for the star for people with astigmatism. And yes, the donut of death looks fuzzy and pixelated. As rubberdonuts said, turn down the brightness and it’ll look better.

My Aimpoint Dot looks like a Nike swoosh to me. And my 512 was exactly as you described.

Exactly what you describe for me as well

Can't use them

I can only use prism sights

I like the vortex spitfire 1X the best

you have astigmatism, I had to sell my eotechs and get an aimpoint t2 and a MRO its less noticeable with just a dot.

And 1-8 scopes with built in illuminated reticles also work great,

Thx gents, my glasses are corrected for astigmatism. When looking Past it it does clear up a bit more. I had two optometrist look through it today, lol, they both said it was a little fuzzy as well. An Aimpoint and ff3 dot look nicer. I will play with the brightness setting, and take it to the range and see what it’s like to shoot. Would the reticle be clear for someone that does not have astigmatism?

I have astigmatism and went to the eye mechanic, explained what was happening a few flips of the machine and presto long as my contacts are in clear as a bell.

For all that have this issue, the crazy magic trick is also a magnifier behind it will clear it up like a high definition tv it’s really crazy.

Also by the sounds of it you only used it indoors, take it outside and you will also see a big difference
in clarity.

Did get an eye exam today, my astigmatism is .5 in my right eye. I asked if I can try a 0.75 as it’s the min ffor contact lenses just to see if it clears thing up but not much difference. So if corrected astigmatism clears up the reticle, is possible that mine is defective? Will take it out when I get the chance and try it.

It would be great for you guys/girls to name some red/green dots that are equivalent to aimpoint and eotec in quality for people with astigmatism what's everyone using ?

And I've heard you can't use a magnifier with a 1X prism sight (e.g. vortex spitfire 1X) ???? True/false?

fuzzy reticle usually means astigmatism. I have it, and my eotech is a little fuzzy. My glasses correct for astigmatism, the reticle is still fuzzy. if I flip down the magnifier, it gets MUCH better, but it is still slightly perceptible...

It sounds weird, but try taking a picture with your cell phone, it will probably show a crystal clear reticle.

You aren't supposed to look at the reticle. You are supposed to look at the target. And superimpose the reticle on the target.

It is grainy on a good day, the question would be can you aim with it? If the center dot is 6 dots even with glasses, and you don't like the BUIS pinhole camera thing, you need to try something else.
I never see a perfect red dot (the illuminated scopes are OK though), I just try to work with it.

Looking past it does make it better, I took a few pics but still has a little fuzziness. The Center dot looks clearer then the outer ring. The only thing that makes it crisp is putting my os4x behind it. What do people think of the g33 magnifiers?
