I have a shiny stainless revolver that I would like to make black.

Is Cerekote my best option?

Is there anything better out there?

diamond like carbon...very hard and wear resistant...also slick so helps parts move better.

Why do you want to make a stainless gun black??? Sell it and buy a blued/black gun... plenty of people prefer stainless.

100% correct. I never understood painting a gun, unless the thing was so rusty or such a low value piece that it didn't merit a re-blue. I prefer cold bluing over paint any day and stainless is AWESOME! Polished or satin.

Perhaps you haven't purchased a new revolver lately.
The market has gone pretty much stainless only. It's next to impossible to find most models in black.

A workaround is to get one in stainless, and then have it coated.
I will be looking into any coatings mentioned in this thread.
