Tried them all, and ended up going to a belt mounted system like the California comp. I found it's easier to get them from the belt than fiddle with the gun. I found the elastic on the Velcro ones holds the shells very tight to prevent them from coming out, it also means it is a bit of a struggle to get them out. The solid ones are a bit of a pain because of the width and if you are putting the gun in a hard case. I found the tacstar ones actually worked better than the Mesa. The mesa uses a rubber tube to put pressure on the shells to retain them. I found even with the heavier duty one (they did come with 2 types of tube) it wasn't as secure. Also the mesa ones they don't recommend storing shells in it for any length of time because the rubber thingy gets a memory and loses it's ability to hold the shells

This is want most find out after trial and error , and if I might add , a dump pouch or sling bag [ man bag ] work great if you want t yo carry more then just a few extra rounds .
I like a Velcro card shell holder, S&J’s pouch with 3 cards to be exact. Have picked up a couple extra cards as needed and have a Velcro belt sleeve that will hold up to an 8 shell card when I don’t feel like carrying around the pouch. Works well for me, I like the Molle system though.
I like my 6 round leather belt loop rig for being fast to access while having much better retention than competition style setups.
It looks similar to this but is black, situates the loops higher and has a "shelf" below the loops to keep the shells from sliding down too far.
