Anyone have done this before? What tool do you need besides Cadex barrel wrench and Vise? Easy to source barrels for R7 action (11/16”-18tpi)?

Starting my first bolt gun build and try to use a Canadian action( did my part and search pretty deep into Deadline action but heavy bolt lift, fitting require for rem aftermarket chassis don’t give me any warm and fuzzy feeling)

Any info/comments welcome!

For about the same money you can get a bartlien barrel chambered with recoil lug directly from cadex for about the same money as a gunsmith.
If not this route get the specks for the threading etc and send to your smith, pick up a barrel and recoil lug and you are good to go.

Cheers

Someplace around there. I know Ken At Bullseye London has ordered a couple. A barrel is around 550 plus tax/shipping. Smith work 4-500 with threaded brake plus shipping and tax. Adds up quick. I usually figure 9-1000 for a barrel job.

It’s 1.060 18 tpi and you have to cut a 22 deg bolt face. Good action for the Canadian options, I just put one together, not really any different from building any other gun. Take good measurements.

Cadex with a 9.5lb force bolt lift wouldn't be my choice. Ultimatum should be significantly less bolt lift force/disturbance to the gun.
