The problem I see with this set up is being able to set the bullets out so they are near the lands and not too long to function through the magazine.

Does anyone have first hand experience loading the 270 WSM out past 2.800" and will the magazine accept longer loaded ammunition.

Does the length of the loaded round require lighter bullets so when loaded to the maximum acceptable OAL as to function through the Magazine is the bullet encroaching into the powder space.

I have a stainless .270 WSM and the longest that will fit in the 700 magazine box is 2.85". I'm looking more for accuracy first than top fps so powder space hasn't been an issue for me. In my Win 70 the box will accept 3.00 OAL.

A Wyatt box will get a Rem SA to 2.98" but you will possibly have feeding issues and getting three rounds in the mag is tight.

I'm surprised no one offers (that I'm aware of) an after market internal box mag for 700's to give a little extra length (without going to a removable mag). I know there's a limit until you see feeding issues but certainly a little extra can be gained.

I wish Remington would make longer mag boxes in their short actions and use fast twist bbls.

This is when you step up to a Model 70 short action. A 270 wsm M70 gets you past 3" without any modifications.
Useful when building something where you need the extra room. Like a 6.5 PRC or 7 WSM.

Wyatt internal mag box like mentioned early in this thread.
