A former site sponsor who shall not be named has salvage 8mm swedish by the belt, any reason I can’t pull these rounds and use the projectiles to load 8mm mauser for my k98?

If this ammo was originally loaded in Sweden, then my guess on the powder would be the original Norma N203 [not 203b] or Bofors RP-3,
which is very close to IMR 4064, but slightly denser and finer grained. Dave.

That's a plausible explanation, so long as those powders originate during or before WWII when the ammo was manufacturer. All the powder I've seen is "flake", but another CGN member has reported pulling an extruded powder from 8X63 ammo.

I've wondered myself, but never really followed up. I have a contact in Sweden I'll ask.

Actually, the extruded powders I found had different lengths and different diameters. There was little if any noticeable difference between the velocities or accuracy, which were both quite good.

OP, there isn't any reason at all why you can't pull those bullets to selvage the components.

I will say that it's easier said than done.

The bullets are seated to the beginning of the ogive and there is nothing to hold onto.

I pulled a lot of them for the components. There were two different types of extruded powder in my cases that closely resembled 3031 or 4064.

I found it to be such a pain that I finally found a K98 take off barrel and rechambered it for the surplus cases in a bubba Belgian action. Recoil was brutal.

The Norwegians chambered a lot of K98s for the cartridge. Most of them were sold to Israel, where they were broken down for parts.

I've been stripping a pile of them lately, what I have been doing is drill a hole larger then the bullet in a chunk of 2x4 hardwood, stick it in bullet first and while grabbing the case rotate it a few times while applying pressure outwards
If you do it right you can grab the bullet and just pull it out by hand then dump the powder in a container, I use old powder containers
Don't over do it though as the bullet can fall out on its own and you will dump the powder( don't ask how I know lol)
Make sure you wear leather gloves to avoid hand blisters.
this method seems to work pretty good for me and I can do a whole belt in an hour
This stuff is definitely worth getting and stripping down for reloading

I ordered a few belts with some friends. I’ve got an RCBS bullet puller, 8mm collet is on the way. If I can’t grab it with that I will try the deathrawt method.

I currently load .303 british with pulled 7.62x54r and 7.62x39, add this to the list of milsurp to handload rounds.

"Crown Jewels" shows contemporary 6.5x55 loaded with Bofors RP3 and a powder called NC1220.

I have some 6.5 m/41 ammo, i should pull some to see of it is a flake powder.

I think RP3 or 203 is quite a bit faster than the flake powder I've got.

Many moons ago, I bought a substantial quantity of RP-3 from "Ammomart" [Now Higginsons].
It was a great powder, and, over the years, I shot it away in at least 20 different chamberings.
The pulldown flake powders from some 8x63 ammo mentioned were also quite good, and produced
top velocity in my 7x57 and 300 Savage rifles. Dave.

Great video. When I tried that, some worked first try, others took additional attempts and some just wouldn't work.

The "destructive" method I mentioned and that was also used by "sledge" is still faster (total time from start to bullet, powder and empty brass in three separate containers) and costs nothing. The downside of course is that the brass is damaged (if someone wanted to use it).

This ex-forum sponsor tried to charge me $125.50 for shipping for this ammo without advising the cost of shipping.

The website checkout said shipping would be calculated in the nexct step after entering cc info and that I would have the option to cancel then if I wanted, but that step never came. They began to process the sale the next day but couldn't finalise because they didn't have my license on file. They contacted me by email to get the license # and it took several several emails back and forth to learn what the shipping cost was. Disappointing business tactics, and the last time I will bother with them.

The website checkout said shipping would be calculated and I would have a chance to see shipping cost in the next step before approving the sale, but that step never came. They began to process the sale but couldn't because they didn't have my license on file. They contacted me by email to get the license # and still hadn't advised shipping cost. It took several emails back and forth for me to learn what the cost was. Disappointing business tactics and the last time I will bother with them.

I'm not sure if its still like that, when I placed an order it mentioned in the checkout section to put a note if I wanted a shipping quote before they processed the order. Maybe they added that after your experience.

I ended up paying $96 in shipping for a crate. They broke it down into 3 packages, 2 cardboard boxes with 3 belts each and then the crate itself with one belt inside. $30/package was reasonable to me considering they were at least 40lbs each!

Just got my 8mm collet for a RCBS puller. It worked fairly well. Took about a hour and 15 mins to pull 250 rounds(already off the belts). About one in ten I had to try twice and had a few stubborn ones that were a waste of time.

Will the scrap yards buy the brass with live primers? Anyone find a easy way to remove them?
