Next; The Newer 22 Creedmoorb fact or fiction, fizz out or here to stay

I found a push feed win mod70 “heavy barrel” in .308Win @ the back of the safe. Pretty sure it hasn’t been shot in a dozen years.

Hmm……

Not as ideal for aftermarket goodies as some, but it might make something.

Yeah I saw he had been banned, just wasn’t sure why. Didn’t remember seeing anything go too sideways, but I did go a stretch of time where I only checked in on a couple sub forums.

Miss his threads, pics and life experiences.

I think the 22 Creed will stick around, especially with factory ammo. I had a 22-284 for a number of years but just never shot it very much. It is impressive launching 80 gr Bergers at 3600 fps.

Manufacturers run twist rates that stabilize light bullets in the 22-250. The Creedmoor is built for heavies. One works for both type of bullets the other doesn’t. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand why some of this stuff is catching on.

No, it's just marketing. :)

Don't give me the bull#### about caliber popularity when you aim for hunters.. Most of them don't even know what they do or what is ballistic at the most basic level... For God sake they don't even know how to use a scope properly..

Damn, some good comedy on this thread. :)

The owner of CGN said that he was banned for threatening another member with: hacking into his bank account, getting him fired from his job and sending some of his criminal gang friends to visit him.

Sorta a full meal deal :)

I am hopeful that either the .22 Creedmoor or .224 Valkyrie catch on or both. I don't think the appropriate twist will catch on for the .22-250 or that the .220 swift will make a resurgence with faster twist barrels being offered. I think both offer a lot although most could be attained with handloading and changing factory barrels. An off the shelf rifle, scope, and ammo package that can perform at various target pursuits and enhance longer range performance may help encourage more people to engage in more shooting disciplines.

Bartell both your 22Creedmoor going target route? Predator/Varmint? Where’d you source reamer, dies etc?

the barrel contour is a sporter, they will be walking-varminter type setups. Corlanes has the reamer. For dies, have Redding Type S bushing 6mm Creedmoor dies with the proper bushing for the 22cm, and will swap out the 6CM's seater stem with a 22cal VLD Micrometer when loading for the 22cm. Hornady just announced a die set for the 22cm so the other rifle (Win 70) will use these. I will be getting Alpha brass from Bighorn Sales. I have a pile of 75gr Amax, 75gr Scirocco, 77gr TMK, 80.5gr Berger, and have ordered the new 77gr Barnes LRX & 70gr Nosler Accubond in case I get the urge to kill a moose. I have some RL26, Magpro, RL22, RL17, RL23, RL16, RL19, H4831sc, Hunter, Win760, H4350, IMR 4955, IMR 4451...something should work

Awesome stuff Mark. That’s great to hear about the factory Hornady dies. I was thinking of going the 6mm Creedmoor die route but caliber specific is nice too. I’m tossing around the idea of a sporter/maybe a bit of a heavy sporter barrel for a walking Varmint, predator, deer rifle.

I’d be interested to see what velocity the 77gr LRX could achieve. That’d make one sweet deer round.
