Carry handle question. Video added.

I’m new to the AR world as I just took possession of my first through a trade on here.
The carry handle on my rifle is the detachable variety but is loose when tightened down. There is no side to side play but quite a bit of fore/aft movement. Is this normal? The upper is an Aero Precision with flat top rail, the carry handle has no markings but, based on internet research, appears to be reasonable quality in terms of the sight and it’s function compared to cheaper versions. Take that last bit for what it’s worth from a Newbie.
It almost appears to me that the rail “gaps” are wider than the “humps” on the bottom of the handle and therefore let it slide back and forth. No amount of tightening will stop this.

Perhaps tighten it down to the point it strips or breaks. Because I doubt that's the case if it's actually so lose it appears it's not tightened down whatsoever. Is it your first time working with rail stuff? Don't be afraid to give it torque. Otherwise there is something missing

No idea on the brand of carry handle. It came with the rifle I got on a trade. My guess is Norinco as the lower is that.

Tighten ‘til it strips or breaks?
I tightentend it VERY tight using a large screwdriver and it still slides. I don’t have any real experience with “rail stuff” but have been in the firearms world a long time. I’m fairly capable around tools and working on guns. This makes no sense to me at all.
 
I have the same problem. I removed the long “clamp” and bent it a bit so the ends are closer. This has helped. Option 2 place a washer so you don’t run out of threads. Good luck.
 
See if the free floating side of the rail is bottoming on the body of the carry handle or you ran out of threads on the bolt. If it is right up against the carry handle. You might have to either shim it somehow like a strip of aluminum from a soda can or knock off some material with a file and reblue. If it has run out of threads on the bolt, either get the die out an cut more threads or shim between the nut and clamp.
 
Maybe try flipping the gripper around. It may have been installed upside down. When tightened it shouldn’t have any movement due to the friction of grabbing the rail.

Can you place a washer under the screw to take up the space? perhaps that will tighten it enough.

I’ve considered this but the thumb screws are spiked on at the head of the thread. I will likely ruin the threads by trying to remove them. But it might be my only option at this point. A tap and die might clean it all up after.
