Do you have experience with these muzzle brakes? I'm leaning toward the Heathen because it seems to be designed to not be as hard on neighboring shooters but from what I can find the recoil reduction is more effective on the M11 and MA-72. It's for a 6.5 Creedmoor.

Edit: This is for a bolt action rifle with 24" barrel (Tikka T3X CTR).

Get the Heathen, it self indexed. The precision armament needs crush washers. The heathen needs no tools to take it off and on. The Coretac you will need tools. I have a heathen on a 6 creedmoor and 308 they work vreat, I can spot my own shots.

recoil reduction is a number and not always the best trade off for the shooter. Do some research state side on Snipershide and 6.5 Guys have some reviews on you tube on our brake as well. If your not in a big rush and your leaning towards the Heathen wait a few weeks and there will be some kool news out on a update its getting that will pretty neat.

I'm interested. Where do I watch for the roll-out of the info? Are you with Insite?

we are announcing it at shot show in a few weeks. Just waiting for the patent to come back before we go public. Will be on the 6.5 guys you tube shot show coverage and Frank with snipershide shot show pod cast.

Have PA M4-72 and while the reduction in recoil is amazing, people don't like to sit beside me anymore. They also sell a washer kit for installation that works great (several thicknesses, not crush washers).

M4-72 is the best rated brake around.

Bold statement. For "best rated" you sure don't see any of them on rifles in the competition circuit.

Looks like an absolutely horrible design. All the gills are raked back to make sure the shooter gets slapped by the blast. I thought the APA gen 2 lil bastard was uncomfortable to shoot because of a similar design - that just looks down right obnoxious. Shoot with that and then try a Heathen - the Heathen will be much more comfortable.

You know what's even worse than sound for making shooters develop a flinch and poor fundamentals? Concussive blast.

Not only will that brake suck to shoot under pretty much any circumstance, but try shooting it from a tunnel/culvert or next to a wall. There's more to a good brake design then just recoil reduction.

Actually there isnt any slap/blast from the shooter perspective on a 16" built. I wouldn't put it on a 10.5" built for the reason you mentionned thought.

Its a perfect brake for sports shooter and yes in a real CQB environement it would suck. But most people using this kind of brake are sports shooters who don't shoot within a team in an enclosed area.
