The 1301 Comp barrels use chokes. They also use the 3.5" receivers ie larger loading port to help speed up reloading. If you are gonna run it in 3gun, I would go Comp over Tac but that's just my preference.
.Once you pattern your shotgun, no probs with a bead. Just point and shoot or lead the target. You can always mount a rail on the top of the receiver and mount a red dot. The comp has a mid-bead on the rail and it's not uncommon for it to work loose and fall off. Remove it, degrease with some rubbing alcohol and apply some loctite.
Unfortunately the barrels are not interchangeable with the Tactical model due to the receiver size difference. Maybe I just need to get a gen 2 Tac in FDE. lol
The Gen 1 is just fine. Better than fine. I've had a chance to run every major semi, and the 1301 is hands down my favorite. That's even up against Benellis complete line of offerings. Does the 1301 have some quirks?? Sure. But thats half the fun of getting to know the platform. Grouping wise, it's tight as can be. Runs like a fair modified.
All that said, if you have a few extra hundred why not get the Gen 2. Just don't let the doodads fool ya![]()
Ain't that just how it goes. Ha
