Any reason why
My Avatar. Ruger SR1911 45 acp. Well built, feels good in my hand. Over 2000 logged rounds and not one, zero, zip, nada malfunctions winter or summer, and still looks brand new.
^^^ My thoughts exactly if you can find a lightly used one..Try EE for a used STI Trojan......still some floating around.....even if you go $200-300 over your budget (nothing compared to money spent on ammo) - that would be a great deal for a great gun.
Because you can’t get a STI Trojan anymore!
In all seriousness... SA has a reputation for building quality 1911s. They have a great set of features for the price.
As as mentioned above, the Colt Competiton is also a great buy. S&W is also decent, but steer clear of the external extractor.
I’d steer clear of Kimber. Most of my experience with a 1911 comes from shooting IPSC - and there are almost zero people shooting a Kimber in competition. Colt, SA, STI, S&W and even SIG are used in competition, but not Kimber.
Exactly right on the STI'sA STI Trojan would have been my first thought as well until they went crazy with pricing and then pretty much got out of 1911's
No first hand experience but I've heard really good things about Springfield Armouries' 1911's.
