Other than the issued CF bayonet ($400) will older style bayonets fit on the lug? What are my options. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Any bayonet that is manufactured to Standing NATO Agreement (STANAG) design specifications will fit. That said, there is really only one correct bayonet for the SA-20 in Canadian service, the price tag notwithstanding.....

I've also noticed that the +2 extension tube on my Remington 870 will fit an AR-15 bayonet on the end. Now I just need a bayonet lug...

S&J makes some.

The M7 Nella was/is also used on the C7 by non-combat arms. I still see people issued with them 15yrs after the 2000 showed up. It’s actually a better bayonet due to the solid tang.

C7 not always easy to find.

Try the US M7, same thing and easier to find and afford.

A bit of an updated look, the M7B with a rubberised handle.
Another country either the UAE or someplace has them and they are available usually at a good price too.

The Eickhorn Bayonet 2000 is correct for C7A2 builds, but ***** expensive!

If you like the modern look that is similar, the OKC bayonet that the USMC use. Pricey but not ridiculous like the 2000.

There is also the Eickhorn 77 model that Tradex used to sell. They were really good value for the money and a nicer modern style. You could occasionally fin it on P&S website too.

For just plain utility, check out Corwin Arms website, a sponsor.
A very useful polish made bayone that looks a bit like ka bar.

Really? Interesting.

So why mount a bayonet on a shotgun? Keep in mind the guy asking this has been known to run a bayonet during 3 gun, so "because I want to" is a perfectly valid answer to me

Weapon retention in tight quarters, is the most logical reason I could come up with...try grabbing the piece and end up with a nasty cut instead! Mind you they just look intimidating as well.

I have 2 590A1s and their awesome with or without the M9 attached.

See "WWI trench guns": Winchesters '97 and 12 later on (also the Remington 10)

As far as I know, Vietnam saw the end of them with the Model 12's and Ithaca 37's.
