Thats a pristine example, it looks like new! Ive seen a couple of M44's like that in the past. A fella at the gun club has one that he bought years ago for $75.00 that looks like it was just out of the factory.

Awesome example. The metal / finish and the wood on them are of the highest quality. They seem to have seen little to no use in actual duty.
I just acquired a 1953 this past Friday.

That ol' girl looks like it was acquired by the OP's brother in an unissued state.....

The Russian one I had (made in early '45 IIRC) was in nowhere near as pristine a condition (sold because someone offered me lotsa money for it!!)

ah that brings back memories. bought 2 from SIR, $43 each, they were clearing out the ones with mismatched bolts. Both were still full of cosmoline.

I sold them a few years ago, I think I got over $200 each for them.

Yep, looks exactly like the one I have.

Century Arms was selling them, in new-never issued condition, still in the cosmoline, for just under a hundred bucks back in the early 80's..

I definitely should have bought more.

I've had two. Both were in similar condition. Bought the first one 30 years ago for 75 bucks. Shoot it occasionally with cast bullets. I heard about the second one in a local gun shop. I called and they said the bore looked terrible. I was thinking corrosive ammo and no cleaning. Went and had a look anyway. Bore looked terrible because it was filled with grease. My plan was to shoot them both and keep the most accurate. Changed my mind and sold the one which looked unfired to a good friend's son. My friends dad was Polish and had escaped his homeland to serve with RAF in Britain during WW11. Rifle has a fitting home and I believe is still unfired. Did give him the opportunity to shoot mine some. Really cool rifles.

Yep, Ontario Sporting Goods had these NOS by the crate for 75 bucks each in the early 90's. I passed them over $150 Garand's and a four of M1 Carbine receivers for $25 each. I should have stocked up on them as the Polish M44 are beautiful.

I regret not picking one up when they were at those prices, I remember handling the $150.00 Garands there, and not picking one up. Live and learn as they say.....
