Hey lads,

I have an opportunity to buy an EAL for $500... but bubba took a chisel to the forearm right near the metal band, located behind the trigger guard. Sorry I can't post pics on this site. Essentialy it is just two 1.5" long triangles of checkering on the forearm. A sad thing really, so minor... but so unfortunate.

Otherwise, it looks to be in good shape. Is $500 too much?

I can text ya a pic if you PM me with a cell or email address, if you're so inclined to put that much effort into helping me out :)

Cheers,

Trev

You don't say whether it's a military model or civilian model. That makes a BIG DIFFERENCE.

The military model has flip up tangent sights mounted on the barrel and the receivers have been milled to remove the sight mounts. The civilian rifles retain the sight mounts and use the military sight.

The military model also has a five round magazine, while the civilian model has the standard issue 10 round magazine.

$500 for a civilian model would be top dollar for one in pristine condition.

Military models will bring more if they're not messed with.

Finding replacement stocks for those rifles is near to being impossible and very expensive.

Sadly, it's become a decent sporter but I wouldn't pay more than $250 for it on a good day.

Thank you so much for the response! I believe it to be a military model, that has been messed with a tiny bit :/

Still $250? Should I offer $300? It's worth $300 to me... but I don't want to be rude to the guy. He is selling it for a widow :(

You've just stated the magic words. "It's worth $300 to me" Go for it.

As for serial numbers, they have proven to be notoriously WRONG as per Wheaty, a member here that worked on them in the military. It seems that factory records are either not accurate or available.

One thing about these rifles is they could be custom ordered. I don't know. I've seen it mentioned and I have seen a few that were a bit different and obviously done in the factory.
