optic when you have astigmatism

Looking for some recommendations for optics that won't be affected by my astigmatism.

I just sold my aimpoint PRO as I see 2 dots instead of 1. so red dots are out.
The use of this optic is 0-200 yards. Personal requirement is that it must have 1x. Could be variable, but must have 1x on lowest.

Just picked up the new Primary Arms 1x prism. Yes, it solves the problem of the blur, but the reticle is tiny. Most of the time instead of seeing the triangle in the reticle, I just see a dot. Yes, I have tried to adjust the focus. It seems like perhaps it has bad light transmission. On well lit targets, I can see the triangle most of the time. On targets in the shade I see a dot or nothing at all (the etched reticle blends in with the the shaded target.).

Not really happy with it, so looking to see if there are any other options. Only other ones I can think of are low power variable optics or elcans.

The vortex prism 1x works great with its bullseye style reticle.

If your looking for a variable a budget would held as they range from $300-$5000

Typically anything under $1000 does not have a true 1x power and in the fine print they range from 1.1x-1.8x

Polarized lenses in you glasses will solve your red dot woes. It did for me anyways.

My astigmatism isn’t extreme so the dot is a tad blurry on top quality red dots. I have no choice but to run Aimpoints. The cheapies are just a big starbursted blob of light.

I was wearing proper sunglasses at the range and discovered it sharpened the dot significantly.

Your milage may vary.

Budget would be up to $2000.

I also read in another thread that putting a magnifier behind a eotech makes it more clear. But I dont want to have a situation of you must use A if you want to use B, which is the case for using sun glasses too. Oh, and using rear iron sight in combination with the red dot too.

But basically the only choices are prisms and low power variables right?

I cant do red dots well but im fine with scopes. However when cross hairs appear level to me they maybe off tilt fpr those who are not effected.

I do wear polarized glasses and it did not make a difference for me. I may however be an odd exception

I have used the Trijicon 1-8x and VCOG before. I would say both of then are too heavy and I dont need that much zoom for 0-200yards.

I would say a 1-4x would be good enough for my needs. What would be a good quality 1-4x optic other than the Elcan?

If there’s room on your rifle try mounting an aperture sight behind the red dot . Looking through the aperture the red dot will look much clearer . If you want to use a red dot that is.

Heavier and cheaper is the 1-4x vortex Viper PST (great scope owned one, don’t go with the gen2 1-6x though horrible)

Also with that budget though look at the Leupold, I’m looking at grabbing one myself the 1-6 vx6 (there is a 1-4 as well) super light at 17oz vs the vortex 1-6 at 24oz I haven’t seen it first hand yet though trying to find one this weekend.

I tried that. I find that yes, it does work, but how it works is by blocking out some portions of the fuzzy dot. So sight alignment becomes very important. But isnt point of red dot big field of view and you dont need proper alignment? By using the rear sight, you lose both of those.

Have this exact red dot in the mail as we speak, tried out like 20 different ones in the store, and the bulls eye reticle on the vortex spitfire was a winner, then checked EE, and bought it for literally half price of what the store was along. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I too have an astigmatism and ended up going for a 1-6 as it gave me the best sight picture. I didn’t have the budget to go as high quality as you but ended up with a Vortex Strike Eagle at a sale price, hope it lasts.

After taking a look at the different options online, the Leupold mark 6 1-6 looks like the perfect fit. Great features and only 17oz. The price is also way up there though. I'm thinking about saving up for one, but I'll probably just get a Vortex razor 2-E 1-6x if there is a good deal somewhere.
