I always thought the B-78 was a nice rifle. Much nicer than the No.1. I had one in 25-06 and if it had been a .30 cal of some sort I probably would have kept it. Beautiful bluing and deep red walnut, shot like a house on fire also. I also miss some of the older BARs, the current short/long trac models do nothing for me.
Older Model Sevens with the 18.5” barrel and iron sights were nice guns too.

I doubt there’s very many of us even on here that would foot the bill for the rifles requested in this thread if we had to pay the actual cost of them today. For the most part these rifles dissapeared because we wouldn’t foot the bill for them when they were around.
Thank Remington for that one.
It’s superior to the “replacement” 783 in my opinion (nicer stock design, lighter weight, finished better, stainless option) they could have just stuck a detach mag system on the X7 and sales would have taken off.
Very nice indeed

Sounds like a great rifle..With the accuracy of today's machining, the Ross could make a hell of a rifle. The 96Ruger in 44 Mag, and a few other pistol chamberings would be nice too. But a better stock finish this time eh?
For those of you that have never experienced the 96, it's light as a feather, fast and not bad for accuracy. My wife's favorite deer rifle.
