So with all the talk about powders ..and the advise I’ve been told for reloading for gas guns (use a faster burning powder for semi’s so you don’t harm the gas system)..ie imr 3031 ...and and on all the forms out there and advise for the m1a1(m14)...
I’m curious people what are your thoughts say on a stag arms for the 6.5 creedmoor (semi)
I see some people post there load data ....and they are getting very good results with all kinds of powder...even the slower powders????

Look at this site they say this...look at another site and they recommend similar??.
What are your thoughts
Thanks davide

Curious as to how someone thinks you’re going to “harm” anything on one of those by using a slower burning powder just because of the action of the rifle?

I built my stag in 308 and swapped my bolt gun from 308 to 6.5 creed, and I use the same IMR 4064 on my semi 308 loads as I did my 308 bolt with zero issue. Sounds like a bit of a myth to me.

I'm using IMR 4350 with my 140gr Nosler RDF and 143 Hornady ELD-X loads. I'm getting good velocities and .75 m.o.a.

A Stag-10 is not an M1A. DI vs. op-rod action designs.
The AR bolt design has gas release ports on the side with the ejection port and there is no op-rod to bend or damage.

Looking at M1A or M1 Garand information when loading for a gun with an AR gas system doesn't work. You should be looking at AR-10/SR-25 resources when loading for a Stag-10 as that is the closest parallel. Use whichever powder you prefer for the desired cartridge. The only time a powder will be too slow for the Stag-10 is if it's too slow for the cartridge you're loading for (and you wont easily find load data if that's the case).

Isn't the US military using a powder close to 4064 for their 175gr sniper rounds in SR-25's?

Been loading h4350 with 140g rdf's and now working on 123g eldm's. Starline and lapua brass. Noslers were getting tight groups but were producing more fliers even with low sd and es so hoping Hornady is more consistent.

I am running rifle length gas and wish it was +2.

Gas guns “NEED” gas and using faster burning powders like 3031 is not preferred for higher capacity larger calibers. As pointed out 4350 and 4198 are more suited for “GAS” guns as they continue to burn down down the barrel up to the gas port. Having no said that bullet weights and calibers dictates powder choices.
