Mmmm.... Walther Q5 Match steel Frame

It looks like Walther is serious about making an impression in the competition game. They will be offering 3.5 lb spring kits and magwells as separate parts to upgrade your pistol. You no longer have to get a box of springs from Home Depot to get that one spring. It already comes with a steel guide rod so they seem to be serious. I think they will have these items available pretty quick since they are already listed. Canadian availability is another question. IRG might be a faster option if they can get their hands on some. I'm getting one, no question. When is the question. And NO pre orders. Please.
...and at least in the USA, Walther has a very decent competition contingency program. They are hungry.

It just sucks about the crap support in Canada. Hoping that will change.

I had no problem having my striker block replaced for a PPQ M2 5" I bought used. The downside to the Walther is their warranty in Canada right now is 2 years to the original purchaser. I have not checked with North Silva but if they have striker blocks in inventory I suspect they have springs as well. Incidentally the gun was back to me in within 14 days which included 10 days of post office time.

I have a regular Shadow that wants a 13# mainspring. Who carries them in Canada? I ask because the last time I went looking the US was my only option. It has been awhile since my CZ's needed servicing.

I want in on some of these benefits. A letter writing campaign to Walther might help. Couldn't hurt, but we actually have to start buying them if we want to benefit from such programs. They probably need to see our support for them as a company before offering support for us as competitors. Suppose it could be argued the other way because we love to argue.

That's probably more money then they net selling guns into Canada. You are right though.

We sometimes forget how small a market there is in Canada even if every IPSC and IDPA shooter in Canada bought one Walther it hardly be a ground breaker for the company. If Trudeau does have his way the question could become moot in a hurry.

Reliable Gun has 13# and 11# main springs and a bunch of other spare/performance parts for CZs.

I guess we now have to wait for the RCMP to approve it. And that is not a good thing. Hoping Walther gets this going ASAP.

There's nothing to approve for pistols as there's no full auto version to cross examine. It either meets the 106mm minimum barrel length or not, period. Plus the mags have to be legal of course.

Steel takes much more time to machine than aluminum and seeing the reaction on the internet there will not be enough supply initially.

I guess you guys should inform the distributors since they are the ones who told me this. Perhaps they are lying to me. I don't know how the FRT system works but thats what I was told. I think the bigger problem is there are none available for sale yet. Just test models sent out to a lucky few for evaluation in the States.

Yes are right. RCMP would still have to approve a totally new design / provide FRT number. From my single experience buying something novel, it took a month or 2 so not as onerous as with semi auto rifles. I thought this might just be considered a variant of the Q5 but I guess not.
