I have a FFII. It’s been on several rifles of mine with hardly a mark to show for it. This past hunting season I put it on a light 7-08 with Talley lightweight rings because the Leupold ultralight that it usually wears needed to be sent in to Korth. After I took the Burris off I noticed a bit of indentation on the tube from the rings. I got in touch with Stoeger and they said I could send it in for inspection but if they thought it was just cosmetic they’d just send it back. I opted to not send it in. Do you think some minor indentation on the tube could affect the internals?
Are you talking like, the thickness of the paint? If you can just feel it, I would not worry about it. Calipers can be used to verify size/crushed/diameter/oval.
I send some $30 (free with scope purchase) binos in to the US, they sent me stiener predators, no charge.
It’s a bit more than the thickness of the paint. You can just see the indentation. You can easily feel it when you run your fingers along the tube.
Sounds like you torqued the rings alittle to much.
I sent a Burris scope back. And was told nothing wrong with it????
3 different times after cleaning gun and snugging down screws..It wasn't holding zero or tracking
Put a Bushnell 10x tactical on ..Problem dissappeared
All the different types of scopes I've sent back...this is the first time i was told nothing wrong with scope..must be my fault
I call BS Don't buy Burris..Junk
Is this a $100 burris or a $1300 burris?
I have seen scopes that were crushed more than the thickness of a nickel that still worked perfectly. You can see if it compromised the seal by placing it under water, in which case the manufacturer would repair the scope and possibly repair/replace the damaged tube
If it bothers you, sell it on the EE with ring marks and pictures and buy another. If it still functions, I would keep using it.
