Yep it's true, it's is about to be dethroned before it was even crowned as the new king, why you ask..well it's simple....

CZ USA nailed it and hit the ball out of the park.......here is a quick run down of recent upgrades of the new CZ 457

60 degree bolt handle, no more ring issues
recoil lug located at the rear of the action, something they never considered before
interchangeable user friendly barrel system, stolen from the 455 series
3 way totally adjustable trigger, pre-travel, over travel and pull weight all easily adjustable, from what to what you ask??
Well I just went from 2.5 out of the box up to 3 pounds, then down to something floating between 6 and 8 ounces
metal pillars in the stock.......nice big ones to for full action support
same quality Walnut high grade stocks they became famous for
laser cut checkering on the forend
metal finish and bluing is again 3 steps ahead of the Tikka

but once again they #### the bed, made all these improvements but refused to drill and tap the receiver for scope mounts so stuck with the 11mm dovetail selections

2 action screws located in the proper locations on the action
####ty plastic magazine well
####ty plastic magazine

new style sling studs on the stock, much improved over the uncle mikes style for looks
new ####ty 2 piece bottom metal, yet thicker then the popcan punch out of the 455 which includes a milled trigger gaurd and a single piece bottom plate

side bolt release, and side saftey

no shoe horn under the 100% free floated barrel

cocking indicator on the back of the bolt shroud

okay so where does this put us now considering that it is now a $900 rifle, well either right on the heals of the Anshutz model 64 or 2 steps ahead of it, that weak barrel system is holding it back from running with the 54's at half the price

I have the rifle in front of me in 27 pieces, I cannot find flaw or anything that needs aftermarket support or upgrading, the Tikka on the other hand is awaiting a new stock to even get it close to this stage

I really, really hate that they engraved that stock with the name of the model. I will wait to see one in person but I can't help but feel like they just went from classy to cheesy.

That being said, i'm still very much intrigued by the 457 MTR, and only hope that all the new models will be readily available in LH format

I agree don't care for that part as well

Same as with the T1X, what's with not drilling the receiver, I really don't like dovetails

T1x is drilled and tapped.

I’ll keep an eye out for dethroned t1x’s on the EE at discounted (hah, yeah right) prices as I wouldnt mind a second one.

I read somewhere that the receiver was made smaller on this new model. Is it a big difference?

they got rid of the rear tang that was rather useless anyways, so it appears shorter but has nothing to do with it's working length

believe it or not, I don't own, and have never owned a 455 model, I have a collection of 452's and the barrel change idea never appealed to me so I had no reason to own one, it will however be a staple feature of the new 457 series

Only 457 listed in canada was a 17HMR, so waiting for a suitable .22 LR to arrive

How did I get the trigger pull so light? well first i completely removed the adjusting bolt to see how light it would go with no spring tension, from there I reinstalled the bolt until I had just enough spring force to hold the trigger blade so it would reset the sear when cocked, it's not rocket science but I tend to forget just how many years of experience at this I have now, I do it many times a month, most people once every couple years, the secret is small adjustments, from the flat to the point of an allen key, then test and repeat until safe and repeatable

Are the barrels the same as a 455?
