Good-bye Tikka T1X..........

I really, really hate that they engraved that stock with the name of the model. I will wait to see one in person but I can't help but feel like they just went from classy to cheesy.

That being said, i'm still very much intrigued by the 457 MTR, and only hope that all the new models will be readily available in LH format

I can echo that, though from what I've seen that stock on the MTR isn't going to be friendly to us. The Varmint might be the only one with both a heavy barrel and a usable stock, but it doesn't look like it comes with the target chamber.

Correct me if I'm wrong...this is 17hmr? Some 50 and 100 yard groups would be nice to see and then have them to compare to the 22lr.

it is right now, ordered a barrel kit to swap it over to .22lr
no interest in shooting the 17HMR, not enough gophers on the island yet

They have different chambers for the different barrel profiles and they’re using a match chamber in a skinny barrel? Did I read your statement correct?

The MTR is a heavy barrel, the only one they use the match chamber reamer on, the Varmint and the rest are all just standard chambers

That just seems a little backwards to me.....
I would think most guys buying the HB versions are looking for the utmost accuracy.

Varmint is still a heavy barrel, just not the MTR with the match chamber, nothing backwards just keeping the price of the sporting rifles down and introducing a new target rifle line

Yep it's true, it's is about to be dethroned before it was even crowned as the new king, why you ask..well it's simple....

What the #### did they do to that stock! Sweet jesus, you want to ruin a rifle aesthetically, well that's how you do it! Whoever came up with that deserves a high five....in the face....with a chair. Nice touch with the sling swivels though :p

Looks like a nice rifle... that engraving in the stock is an absolute travesty! Looks like it was done by a Russian five year old.
How deep is the engraving, it appears to be deep in your photos, but can it be sanded out? Otherwise the stock looks great. I will keep my 453 Lux though.

Over on RFC a lot of guys are expressing similar outrage and irritation, saying they'll never, ever get any 457 with the name etched on the stock. I wonder if it will affect sales. Probably not. I think the 457 will have a longer manufacturing lifespan than the 455 it replaces.

I thought about getting a t1x but after realizing just how much plastic was on that rifle ( my God even the thread protector is plastic) I quickly realized the cost of relacing the palstic with wood and metal would almost double the cost of the rifle. Then I seen this CZ 457 MTR and now I realy want one. I guess I will have to waite untill they hit the market here in Canada and find one so I can have a hands on look at it. So if it looks good and the price is around a G note I may just pick one up.

Looking at it, if I wanted the stock off the SR, but a match chamber, I’d have to replace the stock. I looked through the barrels listed on the website and none seem to have the match chamber. Or is there aftermarket barrels available in Canada for these? I saw the Lilja but that’s almost the price of the rifle, especially getting it to Canada.

Sorry about all the questions. I’m doing some research as well but obviously you have the experience with them.
