Picked up my first 375 H&H this morning. Model 70 action with a McCowen barrel and a custom made stock. Came with a Vari-X II, boit case, 150 rounds of factory ammo (norma and winchester), dies, and about 200 pieces of brass. I wont tell you what I payed for it, as you all might hate me with jealousy!!

Damn it, I cant seem to get the URL from snapfish to work. Anyone help me out?

Congratulations Son! You have a real gun now and it sounds like a dandy. Where's the pics?

Hadn't you heard that the 9.3x62 is every bit as good as the 375 H&H and "more efficient" to boot ?

Great round, and a great gun - congrats.

I cant seem to figure out where to get the proper URL for my pictures on snapfish. Anyone have any ideas?

Congratulations and welcome to the 375 H&H Club....that is a most beautiful rifle! There may be better and faster out there, but you'll find that the old 375 will never let you down,
I've had mine since '63 and I couldn't begin to count the number of times that its filled my freezer and almost always with a single round.
Mine has taken everything from coyotes to moose without a problem.

Just got back inside after testing her out! Just some informal bangin away out in the boonies. She sure does a number on milk jugs full of water thats for sure! I was really suprised at the recoil (or lack theroff). It's the first 375 i've ever shot and was pleasantly suprised at how mild it was. Much less brutal than any 338 ive shot, and nothing compared to my 14'' 870P loaded with slugs. She's definatly a keeper. I have a few days off so ill make it to the range to get some loads on paper. Down the road im thinking of taking a couple inches off the barrel and throwing some irons on her. To say im pleased with her is definatly an understatement!:D:dancingbanana:

Most definatly. Keep in the mind that its not even that cheap to reload for it....allthough absolutly worth every penny of it!:D

I've just come into that same club myself, with a Mod. 70 also. First batch of loads using 300gr. TSX grouped at 1". Welcome to the club buddy, she's a beautiful rig, love that wood.

I have both the 375 and 338 in the same type of gun, pre-64 M70, and find the 375 recoil more enjoyable than that of the 338. The 375 seems to come straight back with a firm but very manageable push; where as the 338 can smack you a bit in the face if you're not hold'in it right. But both are enjoyable nevertheless.

I believe the the heavier barrel in the 375, C-1 taper, gives it what it needs to control the recoil. The 338 barrel is 1" shorter and is a standard barrel, with the sight boss, like the 30-06, but is easier to carry for long periods as it weighs no more than the 30-06 and when you shoot at your game animal you don't much hear the boom or feel the kick anyway. Also, if your animal drops, you don't notice the weight of the rifle either.

Both are great cartridges, but the 375 H&H is number one. ----:)
