I was looking at a new add on the EE. A Norc tt33 9mm, for $100. Looked well used but I wanted it for parts so contacted the guy and he emailed pics, I said I was very interested and asked how the bore was on pm and email and no answer, all of a sudden. Tried again and then looked on EE and price was up to $150. I am positive it was $100. I asked him if he change the price and no answer. Glad I didn't send the money now!

Why its best to copy and paste the ad. Save or quote it in the first message.

Sounds like a deal was yet to be reached, so what does it matter what someone else chooses to do with their property? What I find odd is all the people complaining that they haven't received an immediate reply (or got ignored) like they're a bunch of crazy ex-girlfriends.

I guess the price was low enough a bunch of other people were sending PM's...... and someone offered him more money.
It sounds like if you'd given him an "I'll take it" initially he might have honored that....... hard to say for sure.

Some think it is. Have seen prices raised similar to what the OP describes. Only guessing, but seems like when they get a bunch of 'I'll take it' they decide their price was too low.
Yea,, that's what I got figured, screenshot from now on, but, he didn't deny the raising of the price, I had told him if the bore was good I would take it but I guess he figured he would raise the price 50% because of the offers, what ever, I got burned before by not asking a few questions so if I miss out once in a while, not worried. However I will not deal again with someone who does that, ymmv!

I have experienced and seen lately a change in the way many do business and personally witnessed the daughter's boyfriend try the same this last week. This is they contact someone and are informed the item is spoken for and they immediately offer to attend and pay more than asking.

To each their own and yes the lad was aware of my displeasure at the sleazy practices. If I cannot rely on someone's word or handshake then I don't care how good a deal it is.

I've had the experience of stating I will take an item only to have the seller up the price because of multiple responses of which I am first. I generally walk away and pass it on to the next. Not interested in opening negotiations after a deal is struck.

My biggest annoyance is sending a firm "I'll take it at your asking price" and then having the seller provide their EMT address, only to then get a message of "Yeah, you were first in line, but another guy got the EMT in faster" For a $60 dollar item because my bank took 5 minutes longer to inform recipient of the EMT? So I'm out a couple dollars for the sending / cancelling of the EMT. Not a bunch of money, but that user and many others are permanently on my douche list. Recently had one of them try to buy one of my items, but I will never deal with them again. I can afford to be grumpy at times.

Yes, it is a live and learn thing, well, back to deciding if I want 1 or two surplus M57 Yugoslavian pistols, Tradex won't screw with their prices and their prices are fair!
