My suggestions would also be the CX4, it meets all of your needs, and as u can already tell, is highly recommended by others. My only complaint with them is the beefy irons that crud up your sight picture, crappy trigger and the pistol grip is designed for large hands.
The Sub 2000 gen2 is another great super compact utility rifle that would meet all of ur needs, but IMO and many other people I've shot with, they are a poor choice for plinking cus its unpleasant to shoot for extended amounts of time.
The Just right carbine is absolutely excellent in most aspects. But its large in size, and has a poorly designed disassembly.
The TNW ASR would be the BEST of all the options. BUT most of them have major reliability issues.
The Ruger PC would be another great suggestion, but I have no experience with them.

For me, if a rifle is fun to shoot and makes me smile...then I have found its use. They don't all need to have some practical gun-as-tool justification, which sounds too much like "but why does anyone need a gun?" to me. Gun-as-toy works perfectly well for me.
But, having said that...if you absolutely need to find some nail on which to use your gun as a hammer before you are happy with it, consider this: I live in a rural setting, with a large mowed yard surrounded by bush and some agricultural land. The yard has a pond, lots of birdfeeders, dogs, grandkids, flowerbeds...and attracts lots of coyotes, skunks, raccoons, feral cats, porcupines, and the occasional possum or groundhog. All of these either cause damage or are a threat to my dogs. I'm not talking about walking into the surrounding field and forests and hunting; this is strictly pest-control, within 100 yards of my house and usually much less, and often at night. A .22mag works very well; a 9mm carbine, shooting a bullet that starts out wider than any expanded .22 bullet can every aspire to, weighs 4x as much and is travelling at 2/3 to 3/4 the velocity, is better! I have probably snuffed more critters with a CX4 carbine than any other centerfire firearm I own; not game animals, and no, I have no interest in hunting deer or anything else with a 9mm, but if a gun "needs" a purpose, this gun has one.
When it comes right down to it I think my favorite PCC is my 9mm AR-15, if it was non restricted I wouldn't need any others. That's why I want the FX-9 to be a keeper. I just can't quite pull the trigger on buying one though until I hear more regarding the issues some guys are having. If I do buy one it would let me sell my 9mm AR though which pretty much pays for the FX-9
The FX9 and all the other AR-wannabe 9mm's are all cool and fun, but IMHO they are all longer and bulkier than they "need" (there's that dang word again...) to be to fire the cartridge. The OCD side of me can't stand short-action cartridges in long-action guns or single shots, doesn't want rimless cartridge in break-action singles or doubles, hates the idea of a Win94 firing a fat little .44mag cartridge and just cannot accept designing a gun to shoot a 2-1/4 inch cartridge and then modding it to shoot something half that length.
For me the biggest positive they have going for them is they use cheap ammunition. I really don't know why I keep buying them, lol.

I'm hoping to do a "battle of the 9mm PCC's". I just received my FX9, have my nonR MPX, and am hoping to build a 9mm out of my ATRS Modern Sporter when it arrives. Though as it stands now, I think my MPX will be on the selling block, as I also don't want to have $3k tied up in a 9mm rifle...
Agreed, 9mm rifles make a wonderful critter gun, that's why I have mine. They are also great for a tractor gun. I've found my MPX with an 18.6" barrel is incredibly quiet to shoot, so if I'm taking one or two shots quickly at a running rabbit, I don't worry as much about hearing protection, it's actually quieter than my 22. On a totally separate note, where in Manitoba are you seeing Possums? I didn't think we had any of those guys out here.
I'm originally from Ontario, where possums weren't originally native, but they hitch-hiked in on trucks and became more and more common in the southern part of the province. I never expected to see one here in Manitoba, and haven't seen a live one...but one of my dogs proudly deposited a freshly-killed one on the back porch a couple years ago. A fluke, I know, and I don't expect more...but I have my possum rifle ready just in case!
I had a suomi, but could not get past it being a 12lbs 9mm!!
It was otherwise a nice rifle though.
How about one of those mini Mauser 9mm milsurp guns?
