The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

That looks pretty good. I was considering making one once I get the rifle, but the amount of work involved doesn't really make sense if I can get one like that reasonably priced. Plus it'll give me an excuse to visit Nordic! Brad would really like to sell me an Anschutz.. I'll have to work on him to expand into the Tikka market.

The thread is as Got Juice? indicates (1/2 - 28). The diameter of the thread protector is 18mm.

North American market is 1/2-28 UNEF, correct. FYI Oz etc gets 1/2-20 UNF

18.5 OD on the OEM protector

I made three in different metals just for fun.....

Aluminum, Brass, Steel (cold blued)

FYI the time and material to make one is not worth it to sell them, especially if a blued steel one can be had for $20 (or less).

For that matter any 1/2-28 thread flash arrestor will fit.

Took my T1X out for the first time today. It was +2c and a little windy. I used CCI SV (unsorted) to sight it in. It's going to take me a bit to get back into shooting as I haven't been doing it for the last few years, but I think this rifle will be better once I get the Bravo stock for it and get more trigger time. Target was shot at 50 yards, 5 shot groups except for the one marked 10 shots.

I sighted in my Sako Quad with CCI Quiet ammo. 5 shot groups at 50 yards. I think it will get a little better once I get a few more down the pipe as it was cleaned before going out. The black squares are 1/2" on these targets so it should be minute of cat.

I finally found one locally, it passed the hands-on test without too much trouble. 20" 22LR.
A few minutes with a Dremel and a drill turned this..

There should be a range report coming in the next little while.

Mine arrived too! Couldn’t be happier. Now I just need to arrange some range time. Having 3 Tikkas in 3 calibers all outfitted almost the exact same way has been a long time project. Other than weight, length, mag shape and bolt throw the T1X is all that I hoped it would be.
