Just a reminder to those of you that received mandatory report cards for your 2018 wolf / coyote seals that the reports are due today. Make sure you photocopy yours (and if you take it to MNR / Service Ontario get the copy date stamped) as I have had issues 2 years in a row stating that mine was submitted. I sent them a copy of the date stamped photocopy...

With changes to the mandatory reporting legislation, will impactyour ability to get future tags if you dont submit the reports

I'm in the middle of a kitchen reno, i remember opening the survey and then promptly forgetting about it. This thread reminded me, and now I cant find it for the life of me. What should I do?

Most of this reporting can be done on line. No cards required. Having said that I just don't like the word "Mandatory" when it comes to assisting the MNRF.

And how they are all legislated as mandatory for 2019. I have issues, as have my partners, with being sent duplicate wolf reports after we had submitted ours. First time I called the number on it as got some woman's voice mail. Said I had already submitted and please call me back. No response. Called following week and voice mailbox was full and couldn't accept any new voice mails. Never did get a return call (so much for customer service standards).

Last year took them to local district office, had them photocopied and date stamped. Same thing they sent me duplicate to fill out. I sent them a copy of the date stamped photocopy.

I don't trust them at all now that moose and deer tags have mandatory reports and failing to submit will cost you a tag for the upcoming year. Suggest you keep copies of your tag submissions.

It looks like the new legislation regarding non compliance in mandatory reporting includes prosecution (charges) for not submitting or submitting reports with false or misleading info. I can remember guys doing the old card type reports saying they saw 100 moose being jokers. Well those days are over.

no it won't, what it will do is make you complete it on line before you can complete your online order of new tags.

Now these are only for the people hunting in wmu's that require a separate game seal for coyotes and wolves? Wolves killed under a regular small game license dont require reporting?

That’s what I’m thinking or doubtful about...I’m down here in Simcoe County, ON. We don’t need any Coyote tags or the need to report....last time I looked!

Besides, I suck at harvesting anyways. Gophers out west? That’s another story!

Cheers, Barney

From OFAH:

Mandatory Hunter Reporting
• Starting January 1, 2019 all hunters that purchase or are issued a tag to hunt moose, elk, deer, bear, wild turkey and wolf/ coyote must complete a hunter report even if they did not hunt or harvest an animal. This includes apprentice hunters if they purchase their own tags.
• In general, hunters will be required to submit a report within 14 days of the close of the season
Hunters who fail to report or who provide false or misleading information will be subject to penalties including fines and being unable to purchase a licence or tag the following year. These penalties will be phased in to give hunters the opportunity to become familiar with the new requirements and the reporting service

Ask Gunner410 how well the online system worked - first time he did it on line and clicked the box indicating he had hunted wolves / coyotes, the program kicked him out before he entered the remaining information.

That is correct.
