Remarkable trade gun!

That Wilson musket with the curly maple stock... Any idea of provenance? Curley maple generally = US.
 
Its an old family piece that was found in an attic in Florida.it was dropped off at a gunmakers in the states and it’s something a few of us contemporary builders have been discussing. It’s been speculated that it’s been restocked at one time, or was stocked in England using a piece of imported maple. Which we’ve heard they did. Though very rarely. Anyway if it was restocked it was done in the 18th century and is very professionally done. One of the most beautiful and fascinating pieces I’ve seen of Americana.

i`ve never really run across any conversions. buddy had one ( a pistol) when i lived in Ontario but i only remember it being horribly executed with home made parts. i tried to get it from him but no luck. it was a thing of beauty from a home converted/engineering aspect.
