I was wondering if any CGN's are using "Wipe -Out" brushless bore cleaner on your MilSurp rifles....i have a Remington 03/A3 with a 2 groove barrel.....the bore is in pretty good shape...good lands and grooves.... have been using this foaming bore cleaner..for several weeks on this 03's barrel....but seems i can't get this barrel to come out absolutely clean....leave it in for a day...run a patch through...push out some crud....barrel seems clean....spray some more bore cleaner...day later...same thing ...more crud....

Also they recommend not using a bore brush.....i choose not to listen to their advice...and after a couple hrs of soaking the barrel...ran a bore brush through several times....pushed a patch through...more black crud....

Looking forward to your input...Thanks guys

foam it up, next day push 5 patches through it, and foam it up again, repeat

if you're only pushing one dry patch through it, you're probably leaving a bit of crud in the bore

Really bad fouling will need mechanical action to remove it. Use the foam to soften it up, then switch to a brush with Hoppes #9 or similar nitro solvent, and repeat until clean. Foam is great for copper, but won't dissolve much else. You don't have to leave the foam overnight, 1/2 hour is plenty for it to work.

I've used Wipe-Out with Accelerator on some really old .303s and it was nothing short of magic. The great thing about the Accelerator is that it speeds the whole process up. You can soak it for 30 min, and that's equivalent to letting it sit overnight without the Accelerator.

On an SMLE that I'd scrubbed the old fashioned way with a brush, patches, Hoppe's and Sweet's, the Wipe-Out took a few cycles and kept pouring blue goo. I simply could not believe that stuff. I'd gotten as far as I could go with conventional cleaning, and the Wipe-Out dug in deep and got it all out... with no fuss and no elbow grease, just a few applications.

I had a similar experience with an old Mauser '98 7x57.

I was more skeptical than anyone when I bought my first can of Wipe Out this spring, but now I am a total convert. It really works. And it cuts both black carbon AND copper fouling all in one go.

i use boiling water, poured down the bore into the bathtub,
patch a few times, repeat boiling water, patches, repeat again,
then run a patch with teflon oil through the bore, and one dry patch for excess oil.
i store the gun like this, until I shoot it, when i run a couple patches through to de-oil.

all my bores are totally clean all the time.
even the rougher ones, even after using FMJ corrosive milsurp ammo

A fellow CGNer and I bought some Ballistol after reading about it and what it can do. Well I have to admit it takes out really old barrel fouling and disolves old varnished oil like magic. It lubricates and protects wood and metal and restores leather. Stuff is unreal and is non-toxic. I've never used wipe-out but I have used Hoppes #9 since I was a wee lad. Since I started using this Ballistol product it seems my barrels are cleaner etc. Try it.

I use Wipeout as a main cleaner, unless I am shooting corrosive, then it has to be the boiling water treatment. I do give them a thorough traditional cleaning about every 5th range trip as I find they need it by then. It is a great product for what it is though......

You sold me...now where can this be found?
Checked the Wholesale Sports catalog...nothing in there.
Cheers

Foam out is the best. Cleaned my Garand the usual way. Then used the foam. All I can say is wow. The s**t that came out was unbelievable. Like I was pouring dark blue ink. It took 5 applications to get it clean. Don't use a brass bore brush though.

Why not a bore brush.....i found that it really loosened up the crud in the barrel grooves

X3 Ballistol rocks!

I just used it condition some old slings, and ammo pouches, and it's incredible.
I also use it as an all around gun oil and cleaner. Even safe to use on a dog coat, and the fact that it's non-tox is a big plus in my books. :D

My second choice is G96, but it ain't non-tox.

The East Coast Distributer for Wipe Out and the other Sharp ShootR products is Blue Mountain Sports in New Brunswick. A dealer registered on this site.
The reason that you should not oil your bore is that this is where the carbon fouling comes from. In the absence of an oiled bore the only fouling that will occur is copper fouling and nitrocellulous or powder fouling. This cleans out rather easily with Wipe Out. The Wipe Out also is loaded with rust inhibitors which eliminates the need for oiling your bore.
The Wipe Out is therefore popular with tactical shooters who need a good first round shot from a cold bore. A bore that has been oiled to protect it--even if it has been dry patched usually takes about three shots to settle down.

I went through all of this with a lee enfield, tried different brands of copper remover- and one day found "Shooterschoice" brand copper remover.. The patch came out GREEN!

That was my own experience, 100% worth a try IMO.
