for several years there was a Canadian Corvette docked in Hamilton (Ont) harbour that reportedly belonged to Onassis and was awaiting a refit as his personal yacht.

You're not talking about the Haida, are you ? :confused:Hi

Grizz
. No ... not the Haida (which I drove by daily for many years when she was docked in Toronto) unless she shrunk and was docked in Hamilton harbour for about 24 months in the early ‘’60’s

RCAF Lancaster with Ryan Firebee drone under its wing.Drone has some equipment installed in wingtip tanks and vertical stab so I don't think it's a target drone.R&D of something?

I didn't know Firebees were used by RCAF.,

Probably, but when you count your cash by the cubic mile, why not spend the money?

Some of the details about the Christina O are pretty "out there":

It's all about connections. I wouldn't even know who to talk to about accessing a whale foreskin.

Commander Ian Clarke is presented with the HMS Coventry cross of nails by Captain David Hart pic from Saturday 7 May 2011 article

This particular cross had been aboard HMS Coventry a Type 22 destroyer built as a replacement for F118 until that ship was sold to another navy, at which time the cross was returned to Coventry Cathedral.

Operation Blackleg, a vital & dangerous mission of The Falkland Islands War. The mission was completed to recover 'national security' items from all the sunken RN ships in theatre. Among other items Captain Hart's telescope and sword (since placed on public display) were recovered along with a cross of nails made from the ruins of St. Michael's Cathedral. St. Michael's Cathedral was destroyed 14/15 November 1940 in Operation Moonlight Sonata. The recovered cross was rededicated to HMS Diamond sometime after HMS Coventry (Type 22) was sold.

Spurious was an 1930 Albion bus converted to look like the island of an aircraft carrier.

Also handy for stage productions of HMS Pinafore.
