Mid day coyote calling

Just curious if anyone has had great success calling mid day coyotes? I have found the majority of my success is early morning, normally getting in two stands before calling it quits until evening when I can manage one more stand.

Am I missing something by not being out when the sun is shining?

I usually do what you do, morning late afternoon stands only because that is the time permitted to me most days I can get out but I have taken and called in a few coyotes during mid-day hours.... Once at 1pm and the other at 3pm.... so for being out only a couple of time during mid-day my percentage has been pretty good.
So I guess if you have the land and time to do so, it can be just as productive..
 
In the past 2 weeks we had 3 come into an electronic caller, 1 at 10AM and 2 others at about noon. It's cold & they're hungry. If they can hear a dinner calling them I don't think they care about the clock.

Big boar makes a good point. Weather dictates a lot. I am in Southern AB and it has been warm and with the full moon it has been bright at night. I find more success during the deep cold
 
As others are saying, if it's cold, any time of day works. If it's too warm, they get very reluctant to start running all over the country.
 
Sun up until sun down. If it's a really cold day and you're in a good area, they'll come all day long. Best day ever for calling (but not shooting...). We had 16 or 17 dogs come in. It was none stop action at every stand except for 1 or 2 all day long! -39 air temps that day though.
 
Just my 2 cents but YES!!! use a decoy. One of our guys has a wire rod that affixes to his Foxpro & spins quite fast with a black DOILY on top. The coyote came running so fast from behind that it didn't bother noticing the hunter standing 7 paces away. It was totally fixed on the "decoy". By the way, that rod/skirt fixture is made to attach to the side of a Foxpro and is a nice piece of kit.
 
Like others have said, anytime when they are hungry theres a better chance that theyll come.

Other times if you know where they are most of the time. I like to sneak in or stalk em and setup so when they stick their heads up. I have a good shot on them.
 
first light until 10 am or so seems to be when most coyotes respond to calls best for me. Just before they bed down for the day.
Midday they do respond but success rate sucks between 1pm until about 3pm. I ve had a hard time in the evenings with most coyotes refusing to commit until close to darkness and they usually bust me before Eyes on!.
