I a Savage target action and benchrest stock that has been sitting in my gun safe for a couple of years now with the plan of building a 222 Rem. I already have Forster BR dies and 400 new Lapua bras for this project. The purpose of the build is for short range (100 - 200 yrd) Benchrest. I am wanting to use a JC custombarrels or maybe a Krieger . The problem I am haviing is that I can't seem to find a good smith with a 222 reamer. I did find one guy but after talking to him for a bit it didn't sound like he knew to much of target shooting and that the reamer he had was well used being that I want more of a match chamber I stroked him off my list.
So does anyone know of a good smith that has a 222 rem reamer and could chamber a barrel for me? Or if someone has a reamer that they may want to sell or maybe rent to do one barrel?
Any help woulde be appreciated.

I have a tight neck (.246") .222 Remington reamer that cuts no throat (so you can separately cut a custom throat for what ever bullet you want). I built several good shooting .222's with this reamer back in the day. I'll sell it for $100.

Well I talked to JC custom barrels and he is ordering a 222 reamer from Mansons as he has had a few request for 222 barrels. I have one of his barrels already in 223 and know of a couple other guys from my range that also have his barrels. All shoot really well. So now it is the waiting game , hopefully I will have the barrel in my hands sometime in May which is gust fine with me.

PTG reamers YUK ! :runaway: Mansons reamers YEA :dancingbanana: ! jmo RJ

I am sorta thinking the same thing. Like I said in my earlier post the barrel maker I chose to order my barrel from is ordering a new Mansons reamer now I just have to waite till he gets it and makes my barrel.

No Ballistic Gunsmithing in Star City, SK. The guy actively shoots conpetitive bench rest in Canada. He knows how to build a shooter. Custom Gun Works in Rocky Mountain House probably also has a reamer and could do a top notch job!

Get your own reamer from JGS or Manson and send it to a gunsmith you trust.

That's what I do with my 6BRA. Everything's a known quantity if you do it that way.

Pretty cool that JC’s getting the reamer, I inquired about having him do one for me last year. I ended up going with a 13.5 twist 6br because of the reamer issue. Post again once you have it and have tried it out, I’ll probably order one.
