Nothing to do with loading your gun without supervision. My understanding is a preload station means loaded shotguns potentially just lying there like if the next shooter goes to the can or something. The ARO is to babysit the guns, not the shooter loading them.

Thanks for the awesome offer. I haven't shot a 3G match since 2017 and I sucked at that LB match. Still got no new gear and my shotgun with the rds put me in Open. I'm gonna stick to 2G for now. Good luck this year. Grayson should put on a great match.

To be honest shotguns are not my favorite gun I rather use a rifle for small game than it for 10 or 12 gauge I would love to go to a two gun competition or hell and three gun just to see what it's like
Are we expecting the guns to do something if no one is looking? I've only had supervision at a pre-load table at an IPSC Shotgun match (where only the on deck shooter could pre-load)...every other match I've shot with pre-loads, guns were loaded and left on the table until they were staged / brought to the firing line. I've not ever seen or heard of an issue arising from that.

Our pre-load tables mean the magazine/tube is loaded, nothing in the chamber. And the nothing in the chamber thing isn’t because we are afraid the shot gun will do anything by itself lying on the table, it’s mostly so that if the next shooter trips on his or her way to the RO, we don’t have to worry about trying to dodge a load of 7.5 at close range.

*shrugs* The 3gun matches I've been to in BC with a preload table have all competitors fully preload shotguns, and have someone standing there. Maybe ARO is too formal a term? Watcher of Shotguns? Like Master of Puppets, but different. Different ranges, different cultures? I think the first time I saw it was at the Lone Butte shoot? Could easily be wrong, just ask my wife.
I think it has more to do with the tripping, or the wind coming up, or flocks of crows seeing the shiny slicked out shotguns. Never asked, just patiently waited until it was my turn to watch the guns, and rubbed chocolate on them surreptitiously when no one was looking.

In Canada I've seen everything from cold until told to completely hillbilly loaded to the chamber in the box and under a competitors pick-up truck. I only started shooting in the States last year but the matches I've shot you only pre-loaded the tube while on deck and you were with the gun and under an RO until you step to the line. In my neck of the woods I'm completely fine with pre-loaded tubes in a safe location.
I posted this in another thread. What's wrong with allowing competitors to shoot the same stages as the 3 gun shooters but do so with pistol and rifle only. Ignoring the shotgun targets? That would allow the option and wouldn't require any more or less setup? The 2 gun shooters would be a division on their own.
Can tell by this comment you haven't run too many matches. so now you want to have multiple stage descriptions?
