I bought my first handgun, 7.62 x 25. I heard that most likely it will be added to prohibited list due to the speed of the projectile: 1400 fps. It will penetrate body armour and walls, including bricks; i am told this i have never experimented it though.

Does anyone know relevancy of this, is that a valid rumour?
if it were determined to be prohibited would i be able to keep it and get prohibiited license?
 
that calibre has been around for 70+ years, if it ain't on the list yet it's probably safe to assume it won't be. Nice choice for a first gun since it's as cheap as 22 (almost) and will teach you all sorts about immediate action drills :p

and I'll second Stevo's suggestion, whack him a good one.
 
hahaha...thats hilarious ok...see I am new to this realm so I appreciate the feedback that makes a tad bit more comfortable. I do like this lil gun. I think I will try firing a 45 acp next; i thought the tokarev would be huge kicker but its not at all......I love the pistol look; yet the kid in me still loves the cowboy revolver but how practical are they....
 
This illustrates how easily rumours start.

I can't recount how many times I've heard something like: "Avoid those guns - they're dangerous. I know because a guy I know was talking to an expert gunsmith and he said so." As the story is passed along, it becomes embellished, and before long it becomes entered into Gun Folklore and cannot be debunked.

The Internet certainly starts and perpetuates myths, but also debunks them much more quickly than before. I hope that the Internet will have more of a positive rather than negative effect on false rumours.

I absolutely agree. I also, as a newcomer to the gun world, see how people try to lead and misinform me in order to establish validation in themselves; if they can convince me to believe what their opinion is and I go that direction well I guess that feeds ego. I believe that this may be related to the information given to me about my Tokarev.

Peoples fear and denial can lead to many unnecassary situations which include educational information to a new guy like myself.
 
"...try to lead and misinform..." It's not so much that as it is repeating nonsense they heard from some place or body. Usually on some Internet forums. As you've seen, rumours on this forum get jumped on quickly. It doesn't happen on all forums.
