Hello

I wanted to ask if someone who has a Ruger SR22 22 cal. semi automatic rifle can legally own: 110 round drum magazine and a 25 round bana shape magazine, both NOT pinned.

I don`t enough enough about the magazines whether they can be used with other firearms OR are they just for the SR22. They were ALL bought here in Canada several years ago from a gun shop.

Look forward to your replies BUT I have a feeling what the reply is going to be.

Now to get rid of this dam flu, anyone want it? Free

Thanks
George

Because Ruger made the Charger pistol and it uses the same magazines as the 10/22, the RCMP in their wisdom now state that they are dual purpose magazines and can only hold 10 rounds of .22lr. Your mags are safe if you block them to 10 rounds

Technically it's just the RCMP which say it is Illegal and prohibited....whoever is rich enough to fight the charge they pay on you should get off and have the law turned down since with our current constitution parliament makes laws not the police. If C71 passes well the RCMP will be able to do whatever they want.

So who's rich enough with the balls to give the RCMP the thumb.... loan me the doe and I'll make a career out of telling them to shove it....old be Opposite Land Wendy that believes if Freedom

How many PMs has this guy probably gotten to sell them? Haha such a stupid RCMP gaffe; 30 round mags for the 10/22 a no go but a mag adapter and 30 round Remington 597 is fine...

Jesus H. this shows an outsider everything they need to assess our gun laws as retarded. No PC bs, simply retarded.

Remeber that it is the firearm the magazine is designed for that matters.

And also remember that the cop in the field may not know or care about this. He may arrest and charge you with possession of a prohibited device leaving you to lose your house and life savings and go in massive debt defeating the bogus charges with no way to seek compensation.

Owning one that is legal in the USA is illegal.

Owning this converter which take remington 597 mags is totally legal

Check out this video as well

Owning a 10/22 high capacity mag = illegal

Owning an adapter that takes Remington 597 drum mags = legal

At least for now

There are no illegal 10/22 mags the law has not changed.

If you choose to go above and beyond the law that is up to you. But that does not make it law. Please stop telling people it is law. This is how we end up with BS like all gun have to always be trigger locked etc etc. People claiming things are law that are not.

The RCMP site is not, never has been, and never will be the law.

While Shawn is right to a point, they were originally designed for the 10/22. Then they released the Charger pistol, which has been stated here. That doesn’t cause the issue either.
What caused the issue was the advertising and packaging. They included the Charger pistol in the packaging print for the magazines, thus the RCMP interpretation is that the magazines were designed to be used in both even though the 10/22 is over 50 years old and the Charger is 5(?).

Again, it’s interpretation, not black and white. I was pissed, and still am, because my son who was 10 at the time saved up his money, bought a BC Mag with his own money and never got the chance to use it. Overnight he was a criminal by owning a 25 round magazine, even though he really wasn’t. Different ranges even went as far as banning them, kicking you off the range and potential follow up discipline from the club, just for using them.

Go ahead and post the link to the law that says what the packaging of an item says determines its legal status. Bottom line they are legal, everyone just claims they are not to rationalize their unwillingness to fight it. There is a reason that this has never seen court and never will. Because it is not law, the reason the RCMP gets away with this type of thing is we let them

Where did I say legal? I was talking about interpretation, not once did I mention legality.

The rcmp has made 10/22 high capacity mags prohibited. Owning prohibited devices without the proper license is illegal. Does that break it down enough for you?

The firearms laws are enforced by the rcmp.

Have fun telling them its an opinion when you get charged lol

It’s why I’m a CCFR member with legal insurance. It’s hard for charges to stick when there is no actual law on the books to break.
Where in the Firearms Act, or criminal code does it actually state that the mags (besides the BX25 ones) are prohibited.
