I havent had much luck with anything using the forward gas tube cover mount. To much motion, wont hold zero over any length of time. Or im doing something wrong??
I've put about 300 rounds thru mine since installing the Marstar scout mount. Still seems nice and tight, and returned to zero almost perfectly the two times that it's been removed and replaced. So far so good.

I'm not going to dig it up again, but in the CZ dedicated thread theres a guy who made a side mount that replaces the butt stock disk that goes between the reciever and butt stock, and on the front mounts onto the barrel. Doesn't change the gun at all, and can be removed to result in a normal rifle.
I'm not quite sure if it will work on the CZ...but Barry at Bits of Pieces in Delta has installed a Choate weaver rail mounted permanently to the side of an SKS receiver. It looks rock solid, and the height of it allows easy take down of the firearm and you can still peek under it easily to use the iron sights.
He quoted me $65 for the sight and $85 for labour...and I'm seriously considering it for my SKS.
I have seen a scope mounted on the side of the reciever of the cz858. It is riveted on. It has a metal plate(small) for the scope mount on the side of the reciever. it does not look pretty but could be customized any which way i presume but i choose not to go that route as having someone drill holes in the side of my seksy cz858 is treacherous!
