Canik TP9 SFx

I have one. Topped with a vortex venom.

When I ordered mine I didn't know it was made in turkey or I NEVER would have bought it. I just have an issue with the politics of turkey, it has nothing to do with the firearm itself...

It shoots really well with the red dot. I've never had a feeding issue with mine, and the trigger is similar but nicer to the trigger on my glock 17 (and I have an upgraded trigger and springs in the glock). Would I trust it in the apocalyptic wasteland as much as I would a glock? no. It does have that very slight feeling of being made with pot metal, and that comes from installing the plate for the optic, the steel just has that chinese-cast feel to it, hard to explain. Also, the slide is ported, but the barrel isn't. Looks cool I guess, but I would have much preferred a ported barrel.

For the money it's nice to have a gun with optional backstraps, mag releases and optic mounting plates and even that little charging assist handle. The holster as I recall was weird, can't recall why at the moment, but extra mags were easy to find. All in all it's not bad for the $$. I just don't like supporting turkey. Possibly that flavours my opinion of the pistol, as I thought I was buying a USA made gun. It's stamped USA on the slide, but turkey on the frame. I did learn to do a lot more research before I buy a gun on a whim.

I have one. I have 20+ other 9mms, and this is my favourite. Handles well, excellent sights and trigger.

Have a red dot on it.

I liked mine, just bought it as I wanted to try the sight thing, which works good, though I am not enamored with the screws they use.
I found the trigger good, but as a match trigger guy on 22 target guns and good 1911 triggers , I am not use to it, friend of mine loved it , so he now owns it.
I have seen another in stock at where I get mine from.

I really enjoy mine, can’t use it for IPSC due to the 5.2” barrel length, unless I choose to shoot standard minor or open minor, but good for uspsa. Really accurate, easy to get the trigger tuned to a lighter pull. More accessories are becoming available for it, on the fence about putting money into it for go fast parts. I get the politics of it, being made in turkey but at $350-$400 under the closest competition being the Walther Q5 Match, I had to be practical despite the walther being ipsc approved.

Thanks for the input guy's.

Buying my first 9mm pistol but somewhat torn between the Canik and a S&W M&P9 CORE 5".
On a fixed income so have to watch the pennies. Any recommendations between the two?

Well, finally took the plunge. Just ordered the S&W M&P 2.0 CORE, much more aftermarket support than the Canik.

Thanks for the help.

i guess you dont have any issues with politics of the US ? Lol . Thats just sad. If that was the biggest determining factor for me id stick with HKs and AKs.

I wasnt aware that the 2.0 CORE was released. Are you sure you didnt order the Gen 1?

Yeah look at the CZ P10 F, for the money you will have a great pistol, Read the post on the P10 F. You can get it for just over 600$. And its a CZ, can’t go wrong

Looks like he wanted optic ready, and the P10F is not.

My brother has a Canik SFx. Sweet shooter for the $. It is trickier to get parts, holster or mags though.

i own a S&W CORE and my dad owns a Canik TP9 SFx so ive had a couple opportunities to shoot them side by side.
both are fantastic pistols!
i personally prefer the S&W CORE over the Canik but id take either if i had too.
1 reason and really the ONLY reason i dont like the Canik is that you loose the rear site when you put a red dot on it.
i personally like having the site's there for a back up.

that said the Venom does have 2 white lines on the back so you can use its base as a rear site if you had too.

for me being a older shooter with years and years behind the pistols i instinctively look for iron sites so having the irons on there make it easier for me to find the red dot - but that might just be me.

here are some pics of the 2 side by side.
