Question for the CZ guys

I have a buddy who has a 455CZ 17 HMR , he wants a replacement stock for it. I see some listed on EE. Question will any 455 stock work from a .22RF or must it be from a 17HMR or I would guess .22 Mag as well?

I would think it will work, but not 100% sure, its easy enough to compare to get a good idea if it will fit.

My 455 had the option of a 22 barrel and or a 17 HMR so I would think so but double check with one of the vendors who have both

Yes, it will work. 452 will not fit 455 though.

The CZ 455 uses the same stock for both 22LR and 17HMR.

AFAIK if you have a varmint (bull) barrel you need a varmint stock, otherwise they are the same.

You could use a varmint stock on a standard barrel (and have a small gap on either side of the barrel) but not the other way around.

Just quoting it to make sure it has the importance it needs. The barrel channel is something that could prevent one stock fitting onto another rifle.

The other big point to make is the style of stock, if you're running a scope, you don't want one of the low comb stocks intended for iron sights.(been there myself)

The 455's were designed to be interchangeable between the 3 calibers, .17 HMR, .22 LR, and .22 Magnum. The thing you have to watch for is the barrel profile, which has no relation to caliber. You cannot put a varmint barrel into a Lux, American, Full Stock, Ultra-Lux, etc, without opening up the barrel channel. You can put any barrel into a varmint stock. What rifle does your buddy have and what stocks are you seeing on the EE?

thanks guy's i guess if I would have thought about I would have remembered they were caliber interchangeable . He has a Canadian and want's to preserve that red stock from damage in the field. so is looking for something more utilitarian . I am not that enthused with the Canadian stock but he likes it and that's what makes the world go around.

I guess your friend can find a plain beech stock to beat up, instead of beating up that ghastly ugly red stained beech Canadian stock. IMO he already has a beater stock.

If ever, find a nicely figured Turkish walnut stock if he wants to dress up his CZ. Perhaps refinish it with 20 coats of gunstock oil.
