So the A2 got released at shot show this year and I know they are advertising a lot of new and improved features but I am curious what people's thoughts are the on the new model vs the old one?

For those who don't know they claim 30% better accuracy, a better trigger, 2lbs lighter (more like 1 lb based on the monopod also being removed), better barrel exchange system with less stress, and some small appearance changes.

Also are there any other bullpup options out there?

Been keeping an eye on this myself. The A2 is supposed to be improved as you mentioned, plus it’s less expensive. Unless there is a smoking deal on an A1,I see no point in buying the older version.

The real question is covert vs regular. I like the shorter handguard but hate the short barrels.

Some day when the right deal and options comes around I hope to add a SRS A2 to the collection.

I've been noticing that, people are trying to selling their guns for more than what you can buy one new for. I say covert, it gives you the option of a short barrel if you ever want one, but you can still get the longer ones as well. That and I think the long hand guard on the A2 doesn't look as good as the covert. I think using that short barrel for hunting with the covert would be awesome!

Other than CSC, any other distributors in Canada? I've never owned one but I've always understood OEM support to be a challenge with DT north of the border.

Ellwood Epps carries a lot of DT product, I've been looking at their website and it seems that have most everything instock

I have an srs A1 and if you get a good deal on one go for it. If not go for a new srs A2. The srs A1 comes with a 0.5 moa guarantee which realistically is all you need but 35% more is nice

Sadly until they make a lefty model, I can't get one...

they do though :) Ellwood has a couple for sale and the A2 lefty production will be after :)

thats what I mean, like I've seen some guys groups with hand loads for A1s and there .25 moa or better so I don't get their claim of 35% better I wonder how they came to that. Have you had any problems with your trigger?

Never had any problems with mine. Had a couple groups in the 0.1 moa groups with handloads but those were out of the norm. Half moa is easy though.

Is desert Tech even importing to Canada anymore ? Seems like most places that sold them in the past have stopped ? I got one used thing is so accurate I don’t see how they could improve on it . Perhaps barrel swapping holds position better but I have never had an issue on my Gen 2 convert pre A1 convert . I never have to adjust pre determined scope settings when doing change overs Only thing that seems to have changed the price is now your have to buy the monopod separate so the chassis appears cheaper . Just my opinion but seems like manufacturing cost saving justification . Being a little less weight is cool but there really balanced so it’s probably a none issue . Eitherway I’m sure you can go wrong , it’s going to be crazy accurate and the A1 and A1 converts are great as well . Good to see there trying new things though.

Thats what I mean how to you improve on .1 moa, that's amazing, got any pics

Thats just it especially if you're shooting bigger calibers the extra weight might be nice.

got any groups to share?

On the left side of the target the first group was 4 rounds with 1 fouling shot. The second group below was 3 rounds I think two above were burning a couple extra rounds with a different powder or something. That was it for that load group. The 42.7g group opened up a bit but still not bad 43g opened up further.

I’ll check and see what I have still switched phones so pics are all lost . but I know from memory on bench with hand loads hole were always touching at 200 yards on .308 , 800 meters was getting 6-9” groups , I think the error there was my ability more than the gun . I’ll see if I can track down some pics for you .

Main weight savings seems to be in there new barrels and removing the monopod , you could probably achieve the similar weights in a A1 running a new barrel and taking off the monopod .

I would be sceptical if they improved on the trigger cause the old models trigger was the best I have ever felt .

I've noticed that as well. Which has made it an easy decision to not go for an A1. However now that the cat is out of the bag about the new A2, those selling their A1 will have to adjust or they will simply sit and not sell. So maybe some deals will come up. But it would have to be a really good deal for me to even consider it at this time.

There's been blowout sales down in the US on the A1's. Shame everyone is trying to screw each other up north. The EE market in Canada for firearms seems delusional.

I'm torn about this as well. Having a really hard time deciding. The A1 is very proven, and I actually prefer the looks, but I really want the weight savings of the A2. That being said, i've been looking at the full length handgaurd models, I wonder if a covert A1 with no monopod and a new(lighter) barrel would be similar weight as the new A2?

I also prefer the looks of the old handguard. However... MLok is easier for accessories to be added on directly with less connections. Also the bolt action crowd is a bit behind when it comes to accessories to these types of rails. I suspect it's because the AR style options (chassis etc) are still fairly new in the world of bolt actions in comparison to semi autos. Once you add some handguard panels etc, I think it will end up looking a lot better than it does bare as seen in every photograph and likely even better than the old version.

I like the A1, I really only need the 6-o-clock rail for the Bi-pod anyways. Don’t have much interest in putting anything else on there. The struggle I had was standard vs covert. Glad I went covert, that 16” barrel is awesome. Also, when I ripped the side rails off I found QD ports under there, I didn’t even know they were there.
