Hi There, I'm looking at a Harrington Richards Turkey Fed. 243 Handy Rifle for my daughter believe it was the 2006 Jakes Gun of the Year.
Does anybody know how many was made and what are they worth.

Thank-You for your time.

Not sure what they are worth, I think Stateside they fetch a little more money. There are 2400-2500 NWTF chapters North America, so there would be approximately that many guns out there. Most, of course are in the US, I doub if there are 100 in Canada.

Does someone have one for sale? or are you looking for one?

If you are looking, let me know, I may be able to help.

Personally, if it is new and unfired, I would put it at around $250-$350 or about the cost of a new one without the NWTF crest on it.

I have seen their BPS Shotguns on here and rarely sell for more than what a non NWTF gun goes for.

I guess any gun is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

It'll look like this one with a heavy barrel. The scope on this one is not the original Simons Deerfield.

The emblem likely doesn't add much value. I won this one at a banquet back in 2003 or so. Don't let the term Jakes Gun fool you on it's capability as it is a right nasty little powerhouse on varmints. I don't shoot deer with a centerfire so I can't say how it'd work there. I have however shot chucks galore with it although I can't recall shooting one much further than 300 with it. I've shot coyotes with too and one was on a 3/4 run across afield and I hit him to far back just as he was about to make the brushline. He rolled and got up but I had it reloaded and a finisher in him before he could make the 20yrds or so to cover.
I did work the trigger over since it came extreamly heavy. It now drops off around 3 1/2 lbs. This I did by bending the spring. I didn't stone the sear since the spring bend seemed to lighten it up enough for the type of shooting I'll do with it. I carry it often if there is to be some walking to a spot where shots won't be too long but 14lbs of Remington will be too heavy;)
The throat in this rifle is fairly long no doubt as NEF figgered they should set them up for heavier deer weight bullets. I shoot light bullets and so I find I have to seat them way out to achieve acuracy exceptable for varmints. I found the best load in mine to be 65gr VMax and 43 gr Varget. This load will come well under an inch unless it's my fault. That same bullet and 760 seated to the same depth and in the same brass shoots about 2 1/2 inches:eek: That's how fussy I find this little gun. I've crhonied 55 Sierra's @3850 which aint bad for the short barrel but I found no acuracy what so ever. 85 Sierra bthp bullets shot well with 4350 but I had a hard time convincing the chrony to read over 3000fps so abandoned them for the 65 VMax and Varget at close to 3500. I can't recall actual velocity just this early inn the morning. I do recall however that as a walking varmint rifle this little rifle and load combo is totaly HELL on chucks;)
Offer $300 and see what he says. I wouldn't consider selling mine at twice that as I find it just too "HANDI" to have around;)

I get a kick out of these NEF "jakes" guns. This year we had an NEF in 20G but after shouldering it a few times, I realised it was too big for me, let alone a kid.
I do tend to cut 3/4" off of my guns, but this was even long for an average adult.

Yup definately an adult sized gun. There's over 200lbs of grnhawg and it fits me perfectly;)
