norinco-97

Would these be considered 'non firearms' like the m203? Would they need to be 'verified' by the RCMP first?
Unfortunatly the M203 isn't a "non-firearm" anymore, it's a non-restricted firearm, just like any regular non-restricted gun.

Colt 40MM M203, Caliber 40x46mm, 12" Barrel, FRT#125680-1.

So, those would likely be non-restricted guns. As to if you could import them or not, it's tough to say. If it shoots the military 40x46mm ammo, then I guess the CGD/DFAIT would say it's too evil to be imported.

And these unfortunate occurances do not come from nowhere - it is because stupid people do stupid things to attract attention, and they feel the need to advertise their stupidity.

alright...im tired of reading about this rifle...some one get it into the country or close the thread...this has been open for how long? a year? no dealer has gotten any paperwork started?

meh...

I am amazed Marstar isn't bringing these in. What is with the delay? There is plenty of mystery here, including price, and if it doesn't get sorted, people move on. I just hate the 28 pages of hype and enthusiasm wasted.

Wow. Thanks for that!!

I like the idea of a stock cover/deflector/brass catcher. I would make mine out of Kydex, something like this:

In fact, this unit may fit and solve all the problems.

Here is a hinged deflector for bullpup 10/22 (but not a Muzzlelite):

It can be put on something lefty un-friendly like this:

Here is another hinged deflector
on a similar stock with remoted charging handle:

Lector, I was reading in some threads about Type 97 that it has a short life. But you said somewhere you put some 20000 rounds thru one rifle. How come? And what is expected to fail first? Barrel?

Yep - I think I saw one for $850 at the Kamloops guns show in April. I'd check wolverine supplies online - I'm sure they have a few. These are restricted only...

Chilliwack Dart and Tackle has a restricted 97A for $750 right now...excellent deal but I would really like the non-restricted version just so I could tote it around the back forty as a coyote gun and freak out more of my yuppie neighbors...

Hmmm... looks like I will have to make a quick trip to Chilliwack and check it out.
Woud love an unrestricted verstion of this gun. Problem is... I'm a lefty so I'd end up with an ear full of casings.
