Mayytech 9 mm

Hello All,

I did a search but didn't find anything on Mayytech. I was sorting some brass this evening and came across a bunch of them. They are nickel (plated) and have a shoulder inside.

I have not seen them before and was curious if they were re-loadable and what the shoulder was for I suspect the shoulder is to have a constant bullet seating depth but am unsure.

I believe it should be MAXXTech, not sure.
I did a google search and that's what came up.
Near identical to yours!
Likely bad name stamping but you could kind of see the ghosting of missing portion of the x in your picture.
Hope I'm right!

Search google for stepped 9mm cases. I didn't get great info besides the obvious that cases like these have less internal volume and need to be loaded differently from a standard case in order to avoid the possibility of excess pressure.

There weren't enough of them to justify re-setting my dies and powder measure but they were a curios to me.

Depending on the amount you have, you may wish to put them on the EE since as I keep reading about these, some people really like them.
 
I was finding them occasionally with my range sweepings. A few made it into the system but thankfully I caught them. Where are people buying this stuff? Is it loaded ammo or just brass?
 
We had a thread a few months ago. They prevent bullet setback and are cheaper to produce.

They got a bad rep in blowback carbines as they tend to separate at the step in that type of gun.
 
I bought 1000 rounds of that stuff. Two of the shells were extremely over pressure; the second stretched so much in the chamber I had to drive it out with an aluminum rod and a hammer; in the process, I broke my extractor. The silver coloured cases that I had, I think were steel with zinc plating. I took them back to the dealer where I had bought them, showed him photos of my gun as well as the cases with obvious signs of over pressure (like the flattened imprint on the case head above, and in my case, the primer flowed back around the firing pin and into the pin hole as well as mushrooming all the way around.

Stay clear of these at all cost; f****** garbage.

The dealer gave me a store credit; I bought 9mm dies, primers, campro bullets with the credit, and have never looked back. That was almost two years ago, and so far, I have reloaded and shot 1000s of rounds of 9 mm, 40 s&w, 45 ACP and .38 S&W, and not a single round of factory pistol ammo since.

I also have seen an improvement in accuracy and consistency since reloading.

It's made in Bosnia I believe, and it was cheap; one dealer still has them for 11.99/box if you buy 1000. Lots of bad reviews on line; and you can't reload.
 
Scrap that Maxxtech brass.

Any of the brass with the step inside does not tend to do well reloading, it is subject to splits around the case at the step. My camdex processors are set up to eject it, some FM gets through, it has a much less pronounced step in it. The case volume is reduced significantly, hence if you are going to load it, then you need to work up a specific load for that brass.
